Celebrating The Achievements Of My Students!

As an educator, it is with pride and honor to witness how my students are performing well in academics not to mention that earlier we had the Third Quarter Reading of Honors. It was supposedly scheduled for the past few weeks but due to the Department of Education Advisories, it has been moved today.

Perhaps one of the awaited parts of every quarter is honoring and acknowledging their potential while seeing their progress as well. And I am happy to see them consistently going beyond my expectations as all of them in my classroom were honor students.

The program started with the National Anthem, a prayer, followed by the Manolo Fortich Hymn, and opening remarks delivered by one of my colleagues. The awarding of Certificates of Recognition for Honors was done by Curriculum starting from Grade 7 to Grade 12. And there were a series of intermission numbers in between the awarding.

The performance in every intermission number was a variety show. One of the intermission numbers was an indigenous dance performed by the boys known as the Maglalatik Folk Dance. It is a kind of dance that displays mock war steps with the coconut shells as the props while dancing.

While it is not our turn for the awarding we had the awarding of special awards in the classroom for those who had achieved the perfect attendance. As instructed by our School Principal, the special awards are to be given by the classroom. And so, my students were so happy to receive the Perfect Attendance Award.

I must say that it is a rare award since not all students can have perfect attendance without being late or absent in class. That is why during the fourth quarter or the Recognition Day, every student who got perfect attendance from the first up to the final quarter will receive a gold medal from me. It brought me back to my high school days when I was also a perfect attendance and a gold medal awardee for achieving it.

Meanwhile, another group of students performed the High School Musical play. I love how they showed emotions in their presentation as they sang and danced. Indeed, it was a lively and fun intermission number.

And then another intermission was the revival of the Sayawit by the Grade 8 students. A little back story of this presentation, the students back then ANHS bagged First place during the National Competition at Baguio City, Philippines.

I so love how colorful their costumes depict their love for Mother Nature as Sayawit is a sing and dance dedicated to the preservation and conservation of the environment with the role of an ecowarrior through the Youth for Environment in School Organization.

After the presentation of the Grade 8 students, it is now the Grade 9 Curriculum Awarding. All of the teachers in the curriculum were on stage and as their Curriculum Head, it was my great honor to present the honors and awardees of the Grade 9 Curriculum.

I could see the big smiles of my students receiving their certificates. And that, I am so proud of them for their hard work, dedication, perseverance, and enthusiasm in their studies paid off.

It is so gratifying and humbling to be a part of their success. And I am always happy seeing them succeed every step of the way with great hopes for their bright future.
