IMG_8346.jpg

It is a tropical butterfly of about 10 cm in length from wing to wing. The name malachite comes from the intensity of the green color of its wings and which is reminiscent of the color of this mineral.

It is usually confused with Philaethria dido, another species of butterfly of the Heliconinae family that has an almost identical coloring and design of its wings.
