Orchids of Costa Rica / second part.

_MG_4223.jpg

For today I wanted to share the second part of some of the orchids of Costa Rica, which I was able to photograph in the Lankester botanical garden of the University of Costa Rica.

Although I share several species with you, I want to tell you specifically about the first image, it is a wonderful orchid called Sobralia, which is commonly known as a day flower. And it is that this plant lives up to its name because its flower opens at dawn and withers at the end of the afternoon, so it is a privilege to be able to observe it on the exact day of its flowering.

There are several species of Sobralias, some like the one in the image are the size of a hand, others are smaller and have colors that go from white, pink, orange and purple.

Nice images. I was waiting to know the name of all the species as all I'm used to is calling them all flowers, but then you switched to Espanol 😀

I only know the name of three of them, I do not have the plant guide handy, but when I have the book I will be able to identify them and give you all the names. The last one is Guarianthe skinneri, known as Guaria Morada, the national flower of Costa Rica.

In addition, in order to grow orchids, the place where you will put the Orchid should be bright but not receiving direct light.
