RE: How To Be Authentic On The Hive Blockchain | Pixie Mini Rant

Agree. I have curated my follows/groups so that I generally don't see a lot of crypto or gaming content, because it's not really my interest for the most part. I follow a couple of people who post about crypto to keep abreast of the news, but other than that, not really. But whenever I go to a general trending page or the latest posts on 3Speak, it's like 90% crypto and gaming. The thing is, that's what people are going to see if they just come visit Hive for the first time - and if that's what I had seen, I probably wouldn't have joined way back on The Other Blockchain. Luckily I had a friend on here and so I started checking out things via the tags instead of the trending page and stayed. But I think it's probably a self-perpetuating cycle; people see that when they first join, and if they like that, they stay and participate in that, and unless they're guided in by an extant user who does other things, all the other people probably go, "Oh, nah" and don't join.
My main blog (this one) is a mishmash of all sorts of stuff, and my second is stop-motion faerie videos (@faeriestories), and granted, part of it is because I tend to socialize on main so people don't see my alt around very much, but whenever people discover my faerie videos, I almost always get surprised reactions like "This is on Hive? I never see stuff like this on Hive, I had no idea" because you gotta LOOK for different content.

You make a VERY good point! I agree 100%. As you said, it's not that the variety of content isn't out there, but it's like hunting for a needle in the haystack. I was also concerned about the new HIVE owners that come on here & see just crypto & gaming immediately. While those topics are definitely popular & awesome in their own right, that is not ALL of what HIVE is about. Maybe the new HIVE owner supports the ecosystem here, but want to blog/vlog about their cats (LOL) or their own unique interests that don't necessarily fall into those categories. Right from the get go, I was always had my own niche & fortunately, I had a supportive community coming in to keep me engaged. I found other communities to plug into as well. That is what kept me here. But not everyone is going to take the time to hunt around and look for those needles.

That's another good reason to have people who check in with each other when they are new to the blockchain as well.

I enjoy your content so definitely keep up the awesome work. At the end of the day, there IS something for everyone on here. It's just whether it's easily accessible or not. ;) 💚
