Getting My Move On

So I knew I was going to have to move soon, but in a surprise turn of events, it has already begun!

I am having to switch apartments because I am one of the last three units in the building to not be renovated yet. This also comes with a rent hike (naturally), so I am switching to a smaller apartment so that the rent increase won't be so bad (there are four sizes of apartments in this building; my old apartment is the second-smallest size and my new apartment is the smallest size).

I was expecting to get keys to the new place sometime in November, but there was a bit of a switchup because another person who also was going to change apartments changed their mind and opted to just live through the renovation while they're still in the apartment. So now I'm getting the apartment they were going to switch to - which is convenient, as it's only two doors down!

So I've been working my ass off for the past two days moving things over, but so far today I have been in recovery mode as I am verrah sore. LOL

On day one, Yuan shot out the front door as I was taking a load out, so I brought him over to give the new place an Official Inspection:

He did seem a bit nervous but mostly took it in stride as he is my Adventure Cat. I hope both Maggie and Yuan do well with the move - we've lived in the same place for as long as they've both been with me! I have a Feliway diffuser on my wish list, so I can plug it in at the new place and fill it with good-smelling pheremones which help calm cats and make a place feel "safe." I just haven't had the money to order it yet. There are costs associated with moving even if you don't have to deal with deposits or renting a truck or anything like that. I needed a mop (my old apartment is mostly carpeted so I would get down on hands and knees to clean the linoleum in the kitchen and bathroom, or the tile in front of the fireplace), the aforementioned Feliway, new Command strips to hang things up, things like that. I have acquired the mop at least - good timing, as I swept and mopped the new place already.

My first meal has already been had in the new place, lol, as I was a Sneaky Bastard when I made myself some lunch yesterday:

One of the main reasons I don't buy tuna for myself very often is that if Yuan smells it, he wants some, but he can't have any because he's allergic to fish (it gives him the poops and the barfs). I've tried making it when he was asleep or eating something else, and still the scent wafts across the apartment and there he is, looking at me with expectant eyes. How cruel not to share!

So I brought over sammich fixins and made myself a tuna sandwich in the new place, while Yuan was still chilling in the old place. LOL

I have plenty of work to do, but thankfully extra time to do it in, as they gave me extra time to move since they sprung it on me early.
