365 Day Saving Challenge - Week 6

avatar

Hello savings friends! Here is my update for my week six of the 365 Day Saving Challenge, brought to us by @eddie-earner and @susie-saver! :)

My first big news is that I reached my goal of 100 EDS tokens! Hooray!! :D

I paid my rent and so was able to use some of the Hive I had in my Hive-Engine account to buy the rest that I needed to reach my goal. Now I will happily receive that passive income every week. 😊

Now on to my HBD savings charts!

I am now up to 67.936 HBD in my savings account. I try and put in the highest amount each day that I can, so that I can accumulate that 10% interest on the most money possible. My goal of what to do with the money at the end of my challenge is that I want to buy a (music!) keyboard, as I've always wanted one. Anything in excess of that cost, I don't know; I might use it for every day needs, or power it up, or invest in some other tokens, or who knows; I don't have a particular plan for it yet.

Join in to the savings community challenges any time (link in the first paragraph)! You can do a modified challenge like me, the traditional increase-by-a-penny-every-day challenge, the autumn challenge, join in to the monthly challenges (September had a no-buy-month challenge; October is about side hustles), or check out the Wednesday Wellness Club. It's a good way to stay focused and accountable on your goals.

Until next time, bee good and keep saving! :)

Hey, congratulations on the 100 EDS, that seems really quick, how long did it take you?
I love the weekly colour coding for your accounting chart 😍. I'm useless at daily stuff (I forgot to post over 7,000 steps to actifit the other day - that's after I remembered to wear my phone) 😂. It's really satisfying to see savings grow, though!

Honestly I'm not sure how long it took me, lol. I think I started collecting EDS before I started doing the challenge. A few months perhaps?
Thank you, I enjoy my color coding, lol. Weekly on the daily progress colors and monthly on the dollar amount colors. It helps me visualize it that way. :)
Oh noooooooo I hate when I do that with the Actifit steps! If you ever catch it on day two, there is a tick box where you can post yesterday's numbers I think? I haven't used it yet but I think enough people begged for it that they made it so that you can do it the next morning.

I have used the yesterday posting but this was one of those occasions where I missed the tomorrow after the yesterday. I remembered about 11:59pm.

That sounds like the name of a trippy song with a weird music video. ;)

There's a weekly post on Saturdays on the @eddie-earner account that you can check out that has the original chart you can copy, if you want to use it. The original is meant to work that you increase the amount you put into savings by a penny a day, so on day one you put in 1 penny and on day two, 2 pennies; on day 365 you put in $3.65 (or pounds as it's originally from a British author, or whatever your local currency is). In my case, though, I'm doing it with HBD into my HBD savings account, and I'm doing as much as I can each day, so that's why I have two charts (one to tick off what amount I put in that day and one to tick off how many days I've done so far). This way, I can earn interest on a higher amount for longer, and also since I don't always have a high payout every day, I can put in higher amounts when I have a post payout and lower amounts when I only have curation payouts.
If you're just putting money into a jar, it totals $667.95 after a year, but since we're earning 10% interest on HBD, I'll have more than that by the end.
Makes sense?
