Mi Primer Cortometraje de Artes marciales 👊🏽 / My First Martial Arts Short Film 👊🏽

¡Saludos, mi querida comunidad! Me he mantenido bastante alejado de la plataforma por problemas de salud que ya estoy solventando, además por un proyecto que justo terminó hace poco más de una semana y es del cual quiero hablar en esta ocasión.

Greetings, my dear community! I have stayed quite away from the platform due to health problems that I am already solving, in addition to a project that just ended a little over a week ago and is what I want to talk about this time.

Terminando el tercer semestre del año recibí la llamada de una amiga proponiéndome trabajar en un proyecto audiovisual referente al Karate Do. Los que me conocen saben que el Karate representa casi toda mi vida y mi ocupación actualmente, así que no dudé ni un segundo en hacer las pruebas que se requerían para la participación. Y aunque la espera a la respuesta se llevó cierto tiempo debido a retrasos por la cuarentena, luego de dos meses ya sabía con seguridad que había quedado seleccionado.

At the end of the third semester of the year I received a call from a friend proposing to work on an audiovisual project related to Karate Do. Those who know me know that Karate represents almost my entire life and my occupation today, so I did not hesitate for a second to take the tests that were required for participation. And although waiting for a response took some time due to quarantine delays, after two months I already knew for sure that I had been selected.

El proyecto consistía en realizar un cortometraje que contaría la historia con bases en la vida real y parte de ficción como toda película. Se llevaría a la embajada de Japón y participaría en todos los festivales de cine del país; una buena oportunidad para volver al mundo actoral y darle un mayor impulso a mi cartera como artista marcial.

The project consisted of making a short film that would tell the story based on real life and part of fiction like any movie. He would take it to the Japanese embassy and participate in all the film festivals in the country; a good opportunity to return to the acting world and give my portfolio as a martial artist a further boost.

Mi personaje sería el del Villano; el incomprendido hermano "malvado" que al final, como todos los supuestamente "malos", es una persona que ha llevado una vida llena de desgracia y un torrente de emociones que no ha sabido canalizar. Disfruté mucho ese personaje por la libertad que permite ser el antagonista, y que nunca había tenido la oportunidad de experimentar en mis antiguas participaciones en el teatro. Aunque honestamente significaba entrar en contacto con emociones muy densas que hace tiempo he tratado de evitar, lo tomé como una catarsis que quizá debía hacer para purificar toda esa emoción negativa que tendría acumulada, como es común en una sociedad dónde se nos reprime tanto.

My character would be the Villain; the misunderstood "evil" brother who in the end, like all the supposedly "bad", is a person who has led a life full of misfortune and a torrent of emotions that he has not known how to channel. I really enjoyed that character because of the freedom that it allows to be the antagonist, and that I had never had the opportunity to experience in my previous performances in the theater. Although it honestly meant coming into contact with very dense emotions that I have long tried to avoid, I took it as a catharsis that perhaps I should do to purify all that negative emotion that I would have accumulated, as is common in a society where we are so repressed.

La experiencia fue muy liberadora y enriquecedora. Aprendí mucho más de karate y la cultura japonesa, además del mundo del cine que es algo que siempre quise hacer. Aquí les dejo algunas fotografías que se tomaron en mi primera pauta y dónde pude involucrar estudiantes de la academia a la cual pertenezco.

The experience was very liberating and enriching. I learned a lot more about karate and Japanese culture, in addition to the world of cinema, which is something I always wanted to do. Here are some photographs that were taken in my first guideline and where I was able to involve students from the academy to which I belong.
