Speak No Evil (2022) ::@ a glance::
A psychological horror film, filmed in Denmark, Netherlands and Italy, and released in cinemas and on VOD earlier this year. It's distributed by Nordisk Film and IFC Films, and is indeed a fine example of contemporary Scandinavian cinema, written by Danish brothers Mads and Christian Tafdrup, and directed by the latter. There are three different languages being heard throughout the film, mainly English.
The film looks at how two couples, each with a child, meet and end up spending holidays together. But, as the things progress, an odd behavior and manipulation surface, leading to a dark discovery and tragic turn of events.
WHAT I LIKED
The unblinking and realistic vibe of approach when showing the interaction between the behavior of courtesy and decorum, and that which is driven by spotting flaws and weaknesses in the former, and taking advantage of those. Characters had been developed to provoke the questions about where the limits of civility should lie as well as what should be treated as red flags in someone's behavioral patterns for the sake of one's own and their family's safety.
Each actor in the lead roles seems to have understood their character in depth; probably because this is about virtues, traits and characteristics that can be encountered in real life – it all looks like it's been easy and straight forward to play.
The sequence of events is rather unpredictable; all bets are off at all times.
The ending as a moral of the story. An ending of that type always comes with a substantial risk of taking a form of banality that's damaging to the overall quality of the movie, but, in my humble opinion, none of that is the case with Speak No Evil.

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE
There were a couple of situations where, in my opinion, it was doubtful people would make the choices they do in the movie in real life, however the intention of screenwriters to show the outcome of those does manage to reward the suspension of disbelief.
Speak No Evil can be streamed on AMC+ and Shudder.
