Day 590 since the declaration of quarantine in Venezuela due to the Covid19 pandemic. Reviewing the ephemeris I see something interesting, it is a fact that began the conception of the Nation that lasted to this day. On a day like today, October 24, the signing of the Treaty of Westphalia was carried out (1648, actually it was the signing of two peace treaties: Osnabrück and Münster) that initiated the Peace of Westphalia, which began the first modern diplomatic congress and initiated a new order in central Europe based on the concept of national sovereignty, this is when what in history books we study as the Nation State was born.
The birth of the Nation State ended the existing feudal system and opened the field for political, administrative, international relations, commercial and military changes that changed the entire landscape. An interesting thing is that the definition of the Nation State implies that this political organization must necessarily have a clearly delimited territory, a relatively constant population and a government. In this way, some peoples and nationalities in the world are left out of that classification, but most of the countries that I know fit perfectly into it.
For 400 years the Nation State was a form of political organization that did not see its possibilities exceeded, until during the 20th century, the first forms of community of nations with joint laws and economic markets took shape that began to give changes, here comes what it was the birth of the European Community and other similar transnational organizations. Even now, in the 21st century, a reorganization of power must be considered, thanks to the possibilities of technology and Transnational Corporations, which in many cases have a power and influence far superior to that of several countries. The world is changing, it remains to be seen if these changes lead to a new reality as in the case of the ratrification of the Treaty of Westphalia or are only adjustments to the preexistence reality.
Interesting ephemeris. Reporting personal things, I'm stable and that's like saying I'm fine :) I take the opportunity to post the blog early because since yesterday my electricity service and internet signal have been failing, so you have to work when public services allow it. In short, I am not going to complain much about that, considering that in this country there are more than 94% of the population in poverty (including that there is 75% of the Population in Extreme poverty), I am one of the privileged who can have services (even if they are a little irregular) and I can eat safely at least twice a day (several university professional colleagues do not have such luxury), in short, if we apply the old saying "in the land of the blind the one-eyed is the King" or the one of "If in a town everyone suffers misfortunes, the one who suffers the least penalties would do well not to complain to others", then I really shouldn't complain :) I hope you are well and we can read each other in another chance.

Día 590 desde la declaración de cuarentena en Venezuela por la pandemia de Covid19. Revisando la efemérides veo algo interesante, se trata de un hecho que dio inicio a la concepción de Nación que perduró hasta nuestros días. un día como hoy, 24 de Octubre se realizó la firma del Tratado de Westfalia (1648, en realidad fue la firma de dos tratados de paz: Osnabrück y Münster) que inició la Paz de Westfalia, que dió inicio al primer congreso diplomático moderno e inició un nuevo orden en Europa central basado en el concepto de soberanía nacional, acá es cuando nace lo que en los libros de historia estudiamos como el Estado Nación.
El nacimiento del Estado Nación dio fin al sistema feudal existente y abrió el campo para cambios políticos, administrativos, de relaciones internacionales, comerciales y militares que cambiaron todo el panorama. Una cosa interesante es que la definición de Estado Nación implica que obligatoriamente esta organización política debe tener un territorio claramente delimitado, una población relativamente constante y un gobierno. De esta manera, algunos pueblos y nacionalidades en el mundo quedan fuera de esa clasificación, pero la mayor parte de los países que conozco encajan perfectamente en ella.
Durante 400 años el Estado Nación fue una forma de organización política que no vio superada sus posibilidades, hasta que durante el Siglo XX se concretaron las primeras formas de comunidad de naciones con legislaciones y mercados económicos conjuntos que comenzó a darle cambios, acá entra lo que fue el nacimiento de la Comunidad Europea y otras organizaciones transnacionales similares. Incluso ahora, en el Siglo XXI se debe considerar una reorganización del poder, gracias a las posibilidades de la tecnología y de las Empresas Transnacionales, que pasan en muchos casos a tener un poder e influencia muy superior a varios países. El mundo va cambiando, falta ver si estos cambios conducen a una nueva realidad como en el caso de la ratrificación del Tratado de Westfalia o sólo son acomodos de la realidad preexistence.

Reportando cosas personales, estoy estable y eso es como decir que estoy bien :) aprovecho para publicar la bitácora temprano porque desde ayer mi servicio eléctrico y la señal de internet han estado fallando, así que hay que trabajar cuando los servicios públicos lo permiten. En fin, que no me voy a quejar mucho de eso, considerando que en este país hay mas de 94% de la población en pobreza (incluyendo que hay un 75% de la Población en pobreza Extrema), yo soy uno de los privilegiados que puede tener servicios (aunque sean un poco irregulares) y puedo comer con seguridad por lo menos dos veces al día (varios colegas profesionales universitarios no tienen tal lujo), en fin, que si aplicamos el viejo refrán "en tierra de ciegos el tuerto es el Rey" o el de "Si en un pueblo todos sufren desgracias, el que sufre las menores penas haría bien en no quejarse ante los demás", entonces yo no debería quejarme en realidad :) Te deseo que estés bien y podamos leernos en otra oportunidad.
