The power of the second mile

Question: What does this second mile do?

At least 3 things, and if you live this way, your life will be transformed and you will have a joy and a power, that you cannot get in any other way.

First: It will change your attitude.
The first mile is the frowning face mile, the second mile is the smile mile; the first mile is that of slavery, in the second mile, the voluntary one, is the mile of freedom. You hate to accomplish the first mile, because you are the victim, in the second mile you are the victor; in the first mile they control you, in the second mile you are in control; the first mile is the legal mile, the second mile is the fraternal mile; the first mile walks bitterly, the second mile walks sweetly. Sees it? The second mile changes your attitude, you don't do what you do because you have to, but because you want to.

Second: A successful person will.
All successful people, even on the natural plane, are people who have generally walked the second mile. The reason some are unsuccessful in their spiritual life is because they have only walked the first mile. They say, I'm going to invest 5' of my time in the devotional or I'm going to read 3 bible verses every day or a bible vitamin every morning keeps satan away, ha ha. Do you know how much? They're just doing what they think is legal, but that's all they do. To be successful in life we ​​must learn to walk the second mile. At work, have you noticed that most employees stop work and are very aware of the time of departure?
"And if you do only what you are paid for, you will never be paid for what you haven't done." That is the difference.

Third: It is the key to improve personal relationships.

Let us use our sanctified imagination, let us place ourselves in the land of Palestine. We see a Jewish farmer who is plowing his field, suddenly a Roman soldier approaches him and says: “Look, I am tired, so carry my shield, my weapons and my canteen for a mile as the law says”. The Jewish farmer abandons his plow and with a face red with anger he picks up the soldier's things and begins to walk behind him. And he says to the Roman soldier: "You are in control for now, and I can do nothing but obey the law, Ah, but one of these days we will be the victors and I hope I do not meet you on my way!". This surely in the ears of the Roman soldier sounded like a threat. They walk and the Jew is very attentive to the markings on the road, and when they walk a mile, the Jew throws the soldier's things violently on the ground and says: "One mile and not one more step." And he starts walking back to his field, but he's too angry to work. So he goes home and his wife asks him, What's wrong with you that you have that disgusted face? I don't want to talk about it, I don't want to eat and I don't want you to ask me anything, do you understand? This man is terribly angry because a Roman soldier forced him to carry his stuff for a mile.

Let us imagine another scene: Another man has listened to the teachings of Jesus in the sermon on the mount. On the way back to his house, a Roman soldier approaches him and says: “Look, according to the law, I want you to carry my things for a mile”. And the man with a smile on his face tells him: “I will do it with pleasure, sir. The Roman soldier is perplexed and thinks that this Jew must be sick or out of his mind. But they start walking next to each other, and the Jew asks, Where are you from? Has family? How long have you been in the Roman army?
As they walk, they converse kindly and they reach the mile mark and the soldier receives in his hands the things carried by the Jew and tells him: "thank you for carrying my things, you are different from all the Jews I know, we almost always meet you." insult all the way, thank you very much. And the Jew replies: “friend you seem quite tired and your things are heavy, a mile from here, there is a well of fresh water, I am not tired but thirsty, let me carry these things another mile and we will both drink water fresh so you can tell me more about your family. And that second mile was totally different, they became friends, they talked, they went to the watering hole and they drank together. And the Roman soldier tells him: “I had a bad impression of the Jews, in fact I hate the Jews, forgive me for having thought that way about you. And the Jew tells him: “my friend, your heart and mine are similar, when you talked about your family you could tell that you did it with great emotion, your heart beats just like mine does. The Roman asks him: Why did you walk with me a second mile? And the Jew replies: “Have you heard of a man named Jesus? I heard him preaching a message and he said that when we have to carry another's load for a mile, we should go two miles, motivated by love. And the Roman says to him: “Who is Jesus? I had never heard anything like it, tell me more about Jesus”
Don't you think this is a beautiful door to preach about Christ?
Don't you think the second mile makes a difference?
Don't you think if you live the second mile from your home or workplace it will make a big difference?
Don't you think it's worth walking the second mile, symbolically, at every level of our daily activities?

If people began to live that way on Monday, they would begin to see that Sunday's message come true. We must start living the second mile, the mile that makes the difference.
Listen, Jesus, the Son of God, is the one who walked the second mile. In fact, his whole life was a second mile. Still, in the Garden of Eden, God walked the second mile. Adam and Eve had sinned against God, and God comes and asks: Adam, where are you? That was not the voice of a policeman, it was the broken voice of God, of a searching God, and Jesus left his heaven and came to earth.
In Rom 5:8 Paul says the following: "But God shows his love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us"

In other words he walked the second mile, we deserved the punishment of the law and justice. But he came to give us grace and mercy. What a great Savior we have! What a wonderful Lord we have!
Such a wonderful Savior is Jesus, that He is the only one who walks the second mile with us.

El poder de la segunda milla

Pregunta: ¿Qué es lo que hace esta segunda milla?

Por lo menos 3 cosas, y si ud vive de esta manera, su vida será transformada y tendrá un gozo y un poder, que no puede obtener de ninguna otra manera

Primero: Cambiará su actitud.
La primera milla es la milla de la cara fruncida, la segunda milla es la milla de la sonrisa; la primera milla es la de la esclavitud, en la segunda milla, la voluntaria, es la milla de la libertad. Ud odia cumplir con la primera milla, porque ud es la víctima, en la segunda milla ud es el victorioso; en la primera milla lo controlan, en la segunda milla ud está en control; la primera milla es la milla legal, la segunda milla es la milla fraternal; la primera milla camina con amargura, la segunda milla camina con dulzura. ¿Lo ve? La segunda milla cambia su actitud, no hace lo que hace porque tiene que hacerlo, sino porque quiere hacerlo.

Segundo: Lo hará una persona de éxito.
Toda la gente exitosa, aun en el plano natural, es gente que por lo general ha caminado la segunda milla. La razón por la cual algunos no tienen éxito en su vida espiritual, es porque solo han caminado la primera milla. Dicen, voy a invertir 5’ de mi tiempo en el devocional o voy a leer 3 versículos de la biblia cada día o una vitamina bíblica cada mañana mantiene a satanás en la lejanía, ja, ja. ¿Se da cuanta? Están haciendo simplemente lo que piensan que es lo legal, pero eso es todo lo que hacen. Para tener éxito en la vida debemos aprender a caminar la segunda milla. En los trabajos, ¿Ha notado que la mayoría de los empleados dejan de trabajar y están muy pendientes de la hora de salida?
“Y si ud hace solo aquello por lo cual le pagan, nunca le pagarán por aquello que no ha hecho”. Esa es la diferencia.

Tercero: Es la llave para mejorar relaciones personales.

Usemos nuestra imaginación santificada, ubiquémonos en la tierra de Palestina. Vemos a un agricultor judío que está arando su campo, de pronto se le acerca un soldado romano y le dice: “mira, estoy cansado, así que lleva mi escudo, mis armas y mi cantimplora por una milla como lo dice la ley”. El agricultor judío, abandona su arado y con una cara roja de ira alza las cosas del soldado y empieza a caminar detrás de él. Y le dice al soldado romano: “uds están en control por ahora, y nada puedo hacer sino cumplir la ley, ¡Ah, pero uno de estos días nosotros seremos los vencedores y espero no encontrarme con ud en mi camino!”. Esto seguramente en los oídos del soldado romano sonó como una amenaza. Caminan y el judío está muy atento a las marcas en el camino, y cuando caminan una milla, el judío tira las cosas del soldado violentamente en el suelo y dice: “Una milla y ni un paso más”. Y comienza a caminar de regreso a su campo, pero está demasiado enojado como para trabajar. Así que va a su casa y su esposa le pregunta, ¿Qué te pasa que traes esa cara de disgusto? No quiero hablar al respecto, no quiero comer y no quiero que me preguntes nada, ¿Entendiste? Este hombre está terriblemente enojado porque un soldado romano, lo obligó a llevar sus cosas por una milla
Imaginémonos otra escena: Otro hombre ha escuchado las enseñanzas de Jesús en el sermón del monte. En el camino de regreso a su casa se le acerca un soldado romano que le dice: “mira tú, de acuerdo a la ley, quiero que lleves mis cosas por una milla”. Y el hombre con una sonrisa en el rostro le dice: “lo haré con mucho gusto señor. El soldado romano se queda perplejo y piensa que ese judío debe estar enfermo o mal de la cabeza. Pero comienzan a caminar uno junto al otro, y el judío le pregunta, ¿De dónde es ud? ¿Tiene familia? ¿Cuánto tiempo ha estado en el ejército romano?
Mientras caminan van conversando amablemente y llegan a la marca de una milla y el soldado recibe en su manos las cosas cargadas por el judío y le dice: “gracias por cargar mis cosas, ud es diferente a todos los judíos que conozco, casi siempre nos insultan durante todo el camino, muchas gracias. Y el judío le responde: “amigo ud parece bastante cansado y sus cosas son pesadas, a una milla de aquí, hay un pozo de agua fresca, yo no estoy cansado sino sediento, déjeme llevar estas cosas una milla más y los dos beberemos agua fresca y así podrá contarme más acerca de su familia. Y esa segunda milla fue totalmente diferente, se hicieron amigos, conversaron, llegaron hasta el pozo de agua y bebieron juntos. Y el soldado romano le dice: “Yo tenía una impresión mala de los judíos, de hecho odio a los judíos, perdóneme por haber pensado de esa manera acerca de uds. Y el judío le dice: “mi amigo su corazón y el mío son parecidos, cuando ud hablaba de su familia se le notaba que lo hacía con gran emoción, su corazón palpita igual que lo hace el mío. El romano le pregunta: ¿Por qué caminó conmigo una segunda milla? Y el judío le responde: “¿Ha escuchado acerca de un hombre llamado Jesús? Lo escuche predicando un mensaje y dijo que cuando tuviéramos que llevar la carga de otro por una milla, debemos ir dos millas, motivados por el amor”. Y el romano le dice: “¿Quién es Jesús? Nunca había escuchado nada parecido, cuénteme más acerca de Jesús”
¿No cree que esta es una hermosa puerta para predicar de Cristo?
¿No cree que la segunda milla hace la diferencia?
¿No cree que si ud vive la segunda milla en su hogar o en su lugar de trabajo habrá una gran diferencia?
¿No cree que vale la pena caminar la segunda milla, simbólicamente, en todos los niveles de nuestras actividades diarias?

Si la gente comenzara a vivir de esa manera el lunes, empezarían a ver que se hace realidad aquello del mensaje del domingo. Debemos empezar a vivir la segunda milla, la milla que hace la diferencia.
Escuche, Jesús, el Hijo de Dios, es quien caminó la segunda milla. De hecho, toda su vida fue una segunda milla. Aún, en el jardín del Edén, Dios caminó la segunda milla. Adán y Eva habían pecado en contra de Dios, y Dios viene y pregunta: ¿Adán en dónde estás? Esa no era la voz de un policía, era la voz quebrantada de Dios, de un Dios que busca, y Jesús dejó su cielo y vino a la tierra.
En Rom 5:8 Pablo dice lo siguiente: “Mas Dios muestra su amor para con nosotros, en que siendo aún pecadores, Cristo murió por nosotros”

En otras palabras él caminó la segunda milla, nosotros merecíamos el castigo de la ley y la justicia. Pero él vino para darnos gracia y misericordia. ¡Qué gran Salvador que tenemos! ¡Que maravilloso Señor que tenemos!
Tan maravilloso Salvador es Jesús, que es el único que camina la segunda milla con nosotros.
