🇬🇧|🇪🇸 Participation in JCI Tech Women Initiative 📈💻
Last Saturday March 25 we were invited 3 hivers to attend the forum on women's leadership, innovation and gender equality in the field of technology.
In this forum participated the hiver builder Arlette Salas for the Hive Zulia team, it was a very productive day, where we shared experiences and points of view. The panel of guests also included Biologist Maria Petit, who has created a system of inclusion for girls so that they can begin studies in the so-called hard sciences.

Topics such as the opportunities that currently exist for women in the field of technology were discussed.
On this point we all agree that the opportunities for women are minimal. We believe that it is a very marked cultural issue in Latin America, in Venezuela culturally girls play with dolls, go to the ballet, and education results with a vision that women are caregivers, who do activities or have skills in the craft field and this is not wrong, just that not all girls have the same tastes.

In my particular case I was always interested in building toys, like legos. I loved playing outdoors, running. I remember that when I started in sports I was enrolled in gymnastics and I didn't like it, I preferred swimming and finally I decided to study Civil Engineering, a career where most of the students were men and nowadays I work and interact with more men than women and I feel comfortable, I interact and my opinion is heard.
I take back words that Arlette shared where she invited women to dare, that sometimes we may feel fear, but we should always dare.

An important step that we must take is not to use labels (empowered, warriors, forward thinking). We are women with the same capabilities as men, in the countries where it is possible to study without the fact of being a woman being an impediment, let us occupy those spaces. The struggle should always be to have the possibility of studying because it is a human right.
Women have shown that they can be mothers, and at the same time pilot an airplane, or perhaps travel into space. Being a woman does not make us inferior.

That's a wonderful event and thank you for sharing your thoughts on how we, women can thrive by pursuing our passion no matter what field. This is truly one of the ways to initiate change.
I love this and we really should.
It was a very nice afternoon, where each one shared their experience and where they were motivated to do what they are really passionate about.
