Nature's little details

Cloudy days, but less cold, and no rain: more than enough to rewarding walks in the woods! Binoculars, camera, and decent clothing is all I need.

Today was a great birdwatching session! I choose a location near a small river, with a pine forest close by; I've walked these paths hundreds of times, since I come here since my childhood.

The waterfall always asks for some contemplation, but the best place for birdwatching lies a few meters ahead.

I've used one of my favourite apps (that will surely deserve it's own post!) to identify some of the bird sounds around, and look what it picked up in only 3 minutes:

It's amazing the amount of different species nearby, and although I haven't seen all on that tiny list, I was able to see a lot more species: tits, finches and a beautiful woodpecker passed in front of my eyes!

The light conditions weren't great, and I won't have my hopes up on the bird photos I took, but the morning walk had plenty of opportunities to witness nature's little details.

So many things worth of attention, right? The chestnuts, the moss on the trees, the morning ice on the tiny leaves, they all male pretty cool photographic motives.

I've been looking at some videos on how to make better photos with my bridge camera, and I've picked up a number of pretty good tips. These were all taken with the smartphone, but I'll check how the bridge camera photos are as soon as I get home. Do feel I haven't been using it as well as I could!

Tomorrow I hope to have more opportunities to enjoy more nature walks. For now, it's time to rest and enjoy the winter mood!

When it is not too cold and the weather is beautiful like this, one feels like going for a walk, one goes and sees such beautiful places, one gets a lot of peace.

Fun to be out there in it. But a nice fire is always relaxing. We use Merlin to ID bird calls. Its put out by Cornell University. I was excited by your bird list that popped up. None of those around here 🙂

This is exactly Merlin, using the sound ID. I feel I need to do a proper post about it, this is a heavenly app to any birdwatcher or nature lover out there!

Such a great place paired with the soothing weather makes it even better. I wish I had the same place like that near where I live. Because if that were the case I'd go on walks everyday! Anyways good luck finding more interesting bird species and I hope you'll take a magnificent picture out of them. Also always stay safe on your walks you never know what's out there.

There's no worry in walking these paths, worse thing it can happen is to find an angry bird! :P I'll be sure to post about these species, think I took enough decent photos. Thanks for the visit and Happy 2024! !LUV
