Debt would be my very last consideration Lady Joan, as I am totally allergic to debt.

As you say they are all scams to enrich the shareholders. True honesty has fallen by the wayside the day that hard profits took over.
4 months into the year and all of our "savings" are depleted. A game of "Don't use us and pay us every month in case you get ill" Then we will not be there for you.

I said to @johannpiber that I will dust my toolbox off and go and look for private jobs.

You bet that I will find a way.

Allergic to debt myself, actually shoot yourself in the foot by not having it sometimes, they love to see debt.

'Sharks' circling all the time to plunge into whatever little you have, trust factor was lost, meaning of Ubuntu so many love to use, they don't have an inkling of what it is either.

Advice to younger generation is putting money into unit trusts monthly, let that grow covering all forms of insurance, call it your insurance stash for rainy days, it has unfortunately to be in fiat should you require it in a hurry.

Scary stuff debt Lady Joan and I drilled that into the heads of my kids. Yet one of them learned a very expensive lesson and at last count all three of them are debt free.

Sharks and vultures indeed my friend until nothing is left. I think that there are many that wants the word Ubuntu buried, or to be replaced with the word Kill for what you want.

The problem with investments et al unit trusts are that after a time when the youngsters see how their savings have grown, they invent reasons for taking it all out and then after a month or two, they are right back from where they started.

Many pensioners also take their pensions out in lump sums, then they start or buy a business and for several reasons they lose it all. Some even lose it in false investment schemes.

It is frightening to know that there are so many cons out there and some of them have even dragged the charity word through the mud. Nothing and nobody is sacred to them.
These are not only our problems as they are worldwide.

Yes debt was never something we entered into except house and car, like a noose around ones neck. This actually attracts those wishing to drag you into debt hang around even more.

Scam artists are rife in supposedly ethical businesses, as well as sharks never far off always waiting. Elderly really have to be cautious with modern technology we have had quite a few lose a lot just through banking online scams.

Debt is a trap as are so many other schemes Lady Joan.
During my first marriage I paid an insurance policy every month for many years and then at the divorce I skipped 3 months of payments and asked them to return my money. Not a cent back as the excuse was that I was covered every month over the time period, even though I never claimed anything.

Oh yes and we also had an elderly family member that sent his details to a "You have won" site.
He did that on a Friday and we saw him on the Saturday morning telling us about the big prize that he has won. He also told us that he was waiting for his bank to open as they sent him a message requesting a big registration fee. So we went with him and froze all of his accounts.
Luckily nothing was taken yet, so he had to wait for new cards.
Such is life.

Our weather is scrambled and confused over here. This week we will have 31C on Wednesday and 17C on Friday and everything in between. Plus rain of course.

Hope that the week will also be kind to you guys.

System would be fair if all vehicles on the road had to be insured, of late household insurance is a requirement with high theft levels. Due to the filth not cleared and inclement weather home insurance is needed since you don't know when a house may move downhill or swept away.

Yes the insurance companies know they hold all the cards, the latest being pumped is death policies catching so many, it is broad daylight robbery. Crazy times we living in, in certain areas you can bury your dead in your own back yard to cut costs, I only learned this three years ago, as previously 'advantaged' try it, it would never be allowed!

Weather is reflecting just deserts to all, mother nature still controls everything.

One law that is lacking in this country is that it's compulsory for every car on the roads to have proof of insurance.
A guy driving a rickety worn out Cressida ran up into the backside of a new Mercedes and the guy had no insurance. Who will pay for the accident?

Nope, we have no insurance for many years on the house, but we have on the car and we have built up an emergency saving.
If anything were to happen with the house, we will simply go out to rent another one.

Yes, it's very expensive to die nowadays and that's why I have lasted for so long Lol.
A home job will also not work, as I don't want to lay in a garden with the new strangers in the house looking at me.
I didn't know about the backyard jobs and yes, we are the wrong color to try something like that.

Sticking around cause it's too expensive, yup literally. Burying family on property dual aspect, once you have family bones on the property you can lay claims of ancestral rights, makes you think!

Hahaha, same here also trying my best to stick around.
Now there is a trick that I don't know about. So I can go and lay a land claim for the cemetry where my family is buried? Ancestral land and all.
