Monomad: Waking up the past.

Old cars hold a real fascination for me.

108 photo.jpg

A conversation piece here as I want to know from you, the reader, what the names of these old cars are?

I visited a friend that restores old cars at his farm workshop and the guy is a master restorer.
I have posted a Ruby red color truck that he has restored before and it has been given a new life on the roads.
So these are all old cars waiting for his tender touch.

This is an entry into the #monomad challenge.

After 4 days, I will put the names of the cars in the comments in case nobody got the answers correct.

I well remember during my army days we were far away from home near a coast and thus we couldn't go home on 3 day weekend passes.
So we would load 12 of us inside a car like the one that is in the first photo and we would cruise down to the beach to go and party.

I hope that you have enjoyed this post.

Note: I have posted the last picture in color in Hive before, but none of the other photos have been published before.
Should this be an issue, please give me a shout out and I will delete the last photo.

Man, I miss going hunting for old cars. My ex and his family were classic car fanatics. We often used to go on long roadtrips, seeking out potential treasures that we found for sale in the classifieds.

They owned a Classic Car Restoration garage and this was my playing ground when they taught me to drive at 16. I had the opportunity to sit behind the steering wheel of everything from American Muscle like Camaros and Chevy's to Italian beauties like Alfa Romeos and Lancia Fulvias to German classic BMWs and Mercedes.

My dad was a great lover of cars, so I guess I had a predisposition for them, and as a little girl, I could be found sitting on the sidewalk naming cars driving down the road. I used to be so good, I could identify cars by their headlights, their tails lights or even their fenders.

That's definitely a Ford Fairlane up in your 1st photo. I also spot a Chevy and possibly a Pontiac?

You certainly have a very interesting past and it is great to hear that you also have a love for old cars.
You virtually grew up in the motoring world and yes the love of parents for something can often be found in the children. In my mind I can see you sitting there identifying the cars that drive past.

Now I cannot tell you answer yet as I said that I would wait a few days to check all of the comments, but it this stage there are not many yet. Let's see how it goes.

In the meantime have some some !PIZZA

Thank you so much! I thoroughly enjoyed your post. The car fever never leaves you. I still catch myself rubbernecking on the freeway whenever something special passes me💖✨😊

Hahaha, I drive up next to them and show the driver my camera. Some of them are kind enough to stop for me to take photos. Others I have to take as we drive alongside them.
What I hat is to see a beauty passing in the opposite direction and I can't find a place to do a uturn quick enough.

I might as well tell you that you were correct and both the long ones were Ford Fairlane's, there is a chevvy truck and the silver sanded down one inside the workshop is a Ford Thunderbird. The last one is my favorite and it is also a chevvy.

A mono image is a different image than the same image in colour, but I can't see any reasons why you shouldn't post your photos more often than ones if they suit to the theme you are posting about.

These are beautiful cars or better said they will soon look beautiful again 🤩

I think I could see a Chevvy logo, but to be honest, I have no idea.

I just don't like to break rules Hannes, as it leaves a bad impression and you are the same.

Yes, that guy certainly knows what he is doing and he told us that his father restored old cars and taught him very strictly how to do it. You saw his handiwork with that Red Chevvy truck that I posted and yes he is a master restorer.

So that's all that can see youngster? A Chevvy logo? Okay I will pray for you 🤣🤣🤣

Cheers and thanks.

Well, I'm different, because I have just posted a photo that I have posted a couple of months ago in a post ... and I have no LOLZ left 🤣
To be honest, I do not know of such rules which don't allow posting an image twice.

I belong to the people who can drive cars, I can fill the gas tank and the tanks for the washing water and oil, and I can change tires, but that's pretty much all. Oh, I can change most light bulbs too, although that's not so easy anymore with the newer cars 😂 Otherwise I have no idea about cars, I know some brands, but not their types ... as said above, I'm different 🤣🤔

!PIZZA and !BEER - sounds like a nice dinner :)

Believe me that the rules explicitly state that previously posted photos are not allowed.

Ah yes, we come from different backgrounds. I can take car's motor out, strip it, hone the piston holes in the block, put new rings on the pistons and assemble the motor again with a new gasket under the head. Many tricks to do this as some guys don't clear the block's surfaces under the old gasket and when the motor is assembled after a while the new gasket blows.
But things have changed so much over the years in the designs with turbos and computers in that I can only repair the basics now like changing the spark plugs and such 🤣

I am from a time when many of those old cars were still on the roads and one doesn't forget them my friend.

Cheers and thanks.

Sorry, but I haven't read such rules, but I will search for it.

Yes, the cars nowadays are more computers than machines.
