Come fly into two worlds.

We went on a road trip over the mountain.
204.jpg

The Kite can fly anywhere and he is not limited to a car on the road.

Unfortunately we are and although the kite can see everything, I have to take photos with limited sight from our car.
The morning over the mountain was light with lovely cloudy wisps all over in the sky.
So, come travel with us into two worlds.

A large citrus farm came into view and the trees were blossoming.
035.jpg

Some farm laborers were in the fields doing the thinning out.
Thinning means that if two or three blosooms are close together on one branch, then the extra blossoms are removed and only one blossom is left on the branch. This allows the single fruit to grow bigger and healthier.
036.jpg

A tractor was collecting all of the discarded waste.
038.jpg

Then we crossed the mountain back home into a different world.

The storms normally come over the country from our side, as we are on the southern tip of the African continent.

And yes there was a big storm brewing, so at the other side of the mountain it will soon darken and the rain will arrive.
So we motored into a different world.
025.jpg

Big and imtimidating masses of clouds were crossing at a slow creeping speed.
013.jpg

The mountains were darkened by the storm that was rolling in.
079.jpg

We lived at both sides of the mountain and since we are living here now where the storm was starting, we always find it so strange that in a distance of 45 kilometers over the mountains there is another world of light. We have crossed that mountain many times from the other side to this side and the scenery is at most times totally different.

I had to take these photos from my files as it is very hot here today and I cannot get out to go to take photos.
Tomorrow looks better and we will go down to the beach if we get a chance.

And That's All Friends.

Living both sides of the mountain must give you lots of material, crossing over to the other side gives you a different scenery!

There are 490 mountain passes in the western cape province and I have done about 12 only over the years.
Now that we live here, the mountain pass in the post is the closest to us, but there are many others that are waiting to be explored.
So yes, much more photographic material awaits.

I have experienced about the same here today when I made a trip to Slovenia in the south.
It was cloudy and rainy here, but after crossing the border over a mountain pass, the sky was more clear and right when I was on the next mountain pass it started to rain.
Further down the valley the weather was nice again. Luckily, the good weather followed me back home, but it is quite slow, so it will arrive here later in the evening 😉

Amazing isn't it? I feel like we are driving through different countries. This side grape farms and the other side apple farms.
You do indeed travel through different countries and the changes sound amazing.

Hahaha, so you worked out that if you travel faster that the weather it will catch up with you later.
Sounds great and I will try it with the car 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

Yes, I agree, but not so much in my case - I was expecting a nice sunrise in the mountains but got clouds and rain - that wasn't very amazing 🤣 but later I have taken some nice photos and also a wildlife photo without having to be patient 😉

Wow! That pig in the last photo looks great Hannes, just a wee bit dark, or maybe it's a small mountain goat 🤣🤣🤣

Those are all lovely photos and I love the first one with the small cloud drifting through in the valley.

Cheers and thanks.

A pig with horns 😂 lol
But I agree, the color of the chamois is quite dark.

Yep, I liked this little cloud too and had to take the photo very fast before it was gone - thank you very much Zac 😁

Hahaha, never saw one yet and a pig with horns will certainly look very funny 🤣
I had thin chamois drivers gloves a long time ago and it was the best gloves that I have ever had.
Sadly they don't make them anymore, as we have been looking all over for them.

Yeah and good timing as that little cloud was a great shot.
Always a pleasure my friend.

Cheers and thanks,

Oh yeah and we have discussed the glove issue before. In the late 60's Ib bought a pair of chamois gloves that had a tan color and they were very thin leather gloves, meant for driving long distances.

Now I thought that when you mentioned the chamois in your photo, that the chamois gloves might be a by product made in Austria. But guess not ?

Cheers and thanks.

The gloves could really be from Austria, but to be honest, I have no idea and I don't really look what leather my own gloves are made from. They will still make them, I'm sure, because hunters still shoot chamois and some certainly sell the leather.

Do you have any online shops in Austria, as I am thinking that I could try them to search for the thin Chamois gloves?

Cheers and thanks.

There are quite some online shops here which sell gloves, but I haven't found any chamois leather gloves, sorry.

Hahaha, no need for sorry Hannes, as I meant that I wanted to have a look at your online shops.
So, I will search in Amazon and other sites like that.
The trouble is that I have big hands and normally they only make the smaller sizes.
But I will continue the search.

Cheers and thanks.

To be honest, apart from a few electronics and motorcycle part online shops the almost only online shop I visit is Amazon, and I haven't found chamois leather gloves there neither.
Of course, if ever I find such gloves in big sizes I will tell you.

Thank you Hannes and as I said before, I had a pair in the 70s but can't remember what happened to them.
It's a very thin glove that feels like natural skin when one wears them and they also enable one to work with small things. Fits like a thin sock does.
Most gloves are padded and that's why I don't wear them.

Cheers and thanks.

I'll have a look and if I find gloves which would match your description I will tell you for sure.
