A lovely walk in our paradise.

Spring season slowly turning into summer.
081.jpg
The citrus orchards are all sporting blossoms and amazing to see how they have trimmed the trees to grow into "V" shapes.

The "V" shapes makes it easier for the pickers to clear the trees once the fruits are ripe.
There are many ingenious farm systems to be seen over here and most of the farms are generational farms, meaning that they have been kept in the family names for generations. Some of the farms are also owned by big corporations.
The farms also use the latest technologies, such as computerized spraying systems and IT management.

I just had to show you another shot of the orchard backed by that big mountain.
077.jpg

Talking about mountains here's a close up from the road of the other mountain range here.
147.jpg

One of a wine farm restaurants here, huddled under a big old oak tree.
A very pleasant place to enjoy a meal and a glass of their famous wines, surrounded with the fresh mountain air that we breathe.
150.jpg

They call this our signal mountain and the shot is very easy on the eye, especially with the lines of trees that act as wind breakers around the farming lands.
152.jpg

A landscape shot of the mountain range that surrounds our area and that ends in the sea.
151.jpg

Come and see how the wind was playing with this fountain in a pond.
181.jpg

The wind cutting the spray into all types of shapes.
183.jpg

Finally just to show you some new wine grapes here.
201.jpg

Always a pleasure to be out here and you can see why we enjoy it so much. Things are neat and orderly and totally safe for visitors to walk around filling their lungs with the fresh mountain air.
Listening to the choruses of bird song lures one into a totally different world. A world as it should be, but sadly we are slowly destroying it with concrete jungles where no one is safe.
But such is life methinks.

And That's All Friends!

Trees look like sling shots, all lined up ready to release!

Cape mountains, farmlands sound of serenity all around till the next noisy human comes in close proximity!

Nice landscape photography!

Very strict security here Lady Joan and we have never seen an unsavoury incident here.
We hold annual membership at some of the places, as it is a huge saving on paying entrance fees every time we visit and it is great as we can visit at any time.
Spotlessly clean and well managed.

Lovely scenery out there, very pretty. The Cape Mountains do have quite a nice charm to them. I do love the spring green, it's always so vibrant in spring.

Thank you and yes, I feel a great sense of peace in the mountains, as everything is the hard truth and as it should be. Got some bad shots of an African Fish Eagle today, flying miles high, but he left us with his famous call.
Spring is the season of new life and I have already done a few posts with a spring theme, just to tease some European friends that are now facing a cold and wet snowy winter.

Hi Zac, you gotta hold onto that peace in the mountains, it's one of the best feelings. The fish eagles are always difficult. I don't think I've ever managed to get a good shot of one - I found a pair of fork tailed drongo in my garden today, first time I've seen them here so that was cool.

Yes, you just have to tease the Northerners, they get to tease us with their pretty Autumns, northern lights etc., seems only fair to return the favour in good fun :)

Have a good day.
Ciao

Greetings Ranger Andy, that kinda peace no money can buy and it's one of the greatest free gifts.
I presume that you are also somewhere in the Cape?

Somewhere in my files are great close ups of African Fish Eagles and I have also posted them before. I think last year. There's a couple living here in the mountains and they avoid the towns. To get them on camera is very difficult, but I will get them at some time.

The Drongos are some of my favorites and I love to see how brave they are when they bomb the big raptors that fly close to their nests. The African Harrier Hawk (Gymnogene) is a real pain when it comes to the nests of the smaller birds.

Oh yes, I do indeed send them many warm photos and it's the closer friends up there that I tease. Humor plays a big role in my life.

Have a good evening.

I agree with you there on the peace that no money can buy. Yes, I'm in the arid region of the little karoo, the mountains are around but it's so freaking hot and dry here.

Recently while we were driving from Knysna through Sedgefield my daughter Lory was treated to spotting her first Fish Eagle, she was so excited.

Drongos are lovely, I also really like the little Cape Batis although it's been years since I saw one. I still call so many of the birds by their old names (Gymnogene included) - I don't like it when taxonomists change up everything and confuse everyone, I'm too old for that now lol.

Yes we gotta keep the humour alive these days with everything happening, my old mentor always used to say "when I lose my sense of humour then you might as well take me out back and put me out of your misery", I tend to agree.

Have a good day

Cheers

Oh yes, I know that area as I did my army stint in Oudtshoorn at 1 SAI.
Transferred from the far north it was indeed a lifestyle change and we visited many towns and places on our weekend passes, as it was too far to go home.

Yeah I think that they get bored and then change the bird names for fun Lol.

Humor is the backbone of my existence and coupled to kindness makes me complete in my own eyes hahaha.
I like what your mentor had to say.

I feel the ambience .it would be more relaxing and full of pure air . You would be having little earthen smell from vineyard too. Enjoying sip of wine could be one of the best drinking experience there.

Those V shape trees are just awesome. Amazing how they managed to shape them so V forms are all done in same direction. Enjoy your Spring/Summer time, @papilloncharity, we already have Autumn in Europe.

Beautiful landscape - your part of the world is turning green and warmer, Summer is near, and our part is turning colourful as every year and soon it will be freezing cold.

I like these mountain ranges and if I were a young mountain goat I would love to climb up and down and up again 🐐

Yep, the new wine grapes look so nice, I almost didn't see the dragonfly 😁

Yep, soon you will be up to your eyeballs again in snow Hannes.
I always enjoy your snow photos and I am surue that many other here in the south also enjoy your winter shots. Hopefully you will get some great NFT shots to sell.

Don't worry my friend as we are still young at heart 🤣

So strange as you are the only one that commented on the dragonfly and I deliberately didn't mention it in the post.
So congratulations to you and you deserve the Oscar.

Btw. I am going to also make a few deliberate mistakes in my posts to see who reads them 😉

Cheers and thanks.

Good morning Zac,

thanks a lot, I hope this winter will be nice white and I'll have time for some snow walks or hikes :)

Haha, so now you know that I read your posts ... well, at least I look at the photos 🤣🤣🤣

I hope you have a great day and weekend my friend 🌞

Hi Hannes, I don't know where this reply fell out, but it is always welcome 🤣

Yeah I remember some of your winter hikes and has your dad now sold that cabin?

Yep I know that you are one of the scarce readers, but a tease thrown your way always keeps you on your toes 🤣

Weekend is almost done and I think that you have something to do with the time flying so fast 🤣
So please start to slow it down a bit for us older people 😉

Cheers and thanks.

Hi Zac,

the cabin isn't sold yet, he takes his time and maybe he still wants to keep it.

I have to say that today has gone very slow although there was enough to do, but now it's dark outside and I am sure the night will fly fast 😴
To slow down I need Lady Patience to hold my hand, but I think she's somewhere on vacation in the south 😎

Maybe one day you will still spend some time inside that cabin Hannes.
When you do, remember what I said.

The day was gone and so is this one as well. All to your benefit and just now we will talk about the end of Monday 🤣

I am married to Lady Patience but we don't want my wife to know 😎

Cheers and thanks.

Maybe you're right Zac, who knows. In a few years I will retire and then I should have enough time to work on it.

Haha, now I know why I don't have any chances to be with her, but I'm asking you to "lend" her sometimes to me 🙏 or I will tell it Marian 😉

Oh yes and I know that you will do a good job when you repair that cabin.
Had I to have a cabin, I would really rig it out with all kinds of things and even a barbeque for Sunday picnics. So maybe you will be blessed.

I will most definitely have a talk to her about your needs Hannes. Maybe she will agree but I don't know if she likes mountain goats. They are very stubborn 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

I don't know what will happen with that cabin - maybe it will be sold or maybe it will just be removed. It's a lot of work during the year and especially after the winter. To get there you have to drive for about an hour on a bad forest road or you can hike up there for 3.5 to 4 hours ... we'll see.

Maybe I should buy a costume, maybe she likes zebras or giraffes more 🤣

Oh, I forgot about the distance even though you walk many more miles than this on your hikes.
But for the purpose that I had in mind it will not work. So then maybe it's time to forget about it.

Hahaha, she is a woman my friend and they know everything?
Maybe when you have that uniform on she will ask mother nature to let you sit on a termite nest. Those little buggers will bite you right out of that uniform in seconds and then a swarm of angry bees will hear your screams. Guess what will happen then 🤣🤣🤣

One must never mess with those ladies my friend 😜

Cheers and thanks.
