Hay experiencias en la vida que te marcan para siempre. Siendo joven, entregaba pedidos en un barrio muy acaudalado de la Capital Federal de Buenos Aires, llamado Recoleta. Viniendo de la provincia de Corrientes y con muchos miedos, temores y vergüenzas, me costaba saludar a los clientes en la vía pública. Y un día, uno de esos clientes le dijo a mi jefe, en voz alta para que yo escuchara: "La única publicidad que no se paga es el saludo". Haciendo referencia a que me había cruzado con él en la calle y, para no invadir su privacidad o molestarlo, no lo saludé. Ese comentario me marcó para toda la vida...

Las imágenes que comparto no tienen nada que ver con el deporte, pero lo acontecido sucedió en esa situación, el día de ayer. En primer lugar, me encuentro con Darío, que tiene un negocio de tortas y muy amablemente me había comprado la campera que en esta ocasión estoy luciendo. Como creador de contenidos, siempre cámara en mano, sale la selfie de por medio. Sigo rodando solo, y me encuentro con otro chico que conozco muy poco, pero siempre que nos vemos compartimos momentos deportivos. Él estaba rodando con su novia y, en una de las pasadas a gran velocidad mía, le grito: "¡Qué hacés, Lautaroooo!".
Simple, pero efectivo. El saludo siempre tiene que estar, y no es necesario darse un apretón de mano. Creo más en las intenciones y las buenas vibras de quien lo dice. Seguí rodando un rato más y volví a casa, silbando bajito, ya con el entrenamiento terminado.
The pictures I'm sharing have nothing to do with sports, but what happened took place during that same ride, yesterday. First, I run into Darío, who has a cake business and had kindly bought me the jacket I'm wearing in these photos. As a content creator, always camera in hand, out comes the selfie. I keep riding on my own, and I run into another guy I barely know, but whenever we cross paths, we share sports moments together. He was riding with his girlfriend, and as I sped past them, I shouted: "What's up, Lautaroooo!"
Simple, but effective. The greeting always has to be there, and a handshake isn't necessary. I believe more in the intention and good vibes behind it than anything else. I kept riding a bit longer and headed home, whistling softly, training already done.
Todo este preámbulo, para contarte lo que creo sustancioso de esta experiencia. Siempre estamos pidiendo tener trabajo, generar ingresos, y más aún los creadores de contenido. Los que me conocen saben de mis miedos, y en ocasiones no quiero hacer ciertas actividades para no quedar como un chamuyero o vendehúmo. El tema es que uno no tiene que ser un especialista para poder ayudar a otras personas en algo. No tengo el título de community manager ni de creador de contenido profesional, pero puedo ayudar a otros a hacer cosas que para mí son insignificantes, pero que para ellos no.
Por la tarde-noche, Lautaro me habló al privado y me dijo que tiene un emprendimiento con su padre, al cual quiere darle visibilidad. Me preguntó si le podía dar una mano creando una cuenta de Instagram, generándole contenidos y viendo las diferentes formas que él pueda tener para darse a conocer. En su momento, le hubiese dicho que no, porque no me sentía a la altura de las circunstancias. Pero hoy siento que no le puedo prometer el éxito en sus cuentas, pero sí ayudarlo a comenzar con lo que ya sé. Ahora me toca prepararle una propuesta y un presupuesto.
All this preamble, just to tell you what I find meaningful about this experience. We're always looking for work and income, and even more so as content creators. Those who know me are aware of my fears, and sometimes I don't want to do certain things so I don't come across as a fake or a bullshitter. The thing is, you don't have to be a specialist to help other people with something. I don't hold a degree in community management, nor am I a professional content creator, but I can help others do things that feel insignificant to me, yet aren't insignificant to them at all.
Later that evening, Lautaro messaged me privately and told me he has a business venture with his father that he wants to give more visibility to. He asked if I could lend a hand by creating an Instagram account, generating content for him, and looking into the different ways he could get his name out there. At another point in my life, I would have said no, because I didn't feel up to the task. But today I feel like I can't promise him success on his accounts — but I can help him get started with what I already know. Now it's my turn to put together a proposal and a budget for him.
De ahí la importancia de saludar siempre, de interactuar, porque todo el tiempo estamos siendo observados. Creo en mantener una línea profesional en tus redes sociales, pero también creo en mostrarte tal cual sos. Creo que, al ser genuino, uno conecta más. Y cuando hablo de conectar, también digo que en ocasiones uno no cae bien. Y eso tiene que ser lo más normal del mundo. No a todo el mundo le vas a caer bien, y tampoco todo el mundo te va a caer bien a vos. No quiero extender el texto, pero iré contando qué repercusiones tiene esta experiencia, y si resulta, quizás pueda ofrecerle el mismo servicio a Darío, el tortero.
Por último, invito a todos a seguir aprendiendo diferentes habilidades como creadores de contenido, y que nunca dejen que el síndrome del impostor invada su cotidianidad.

I believe in keeping a professional line on your social media, but I also believe in showing yourself as you truly are. I think that being genuine helps you connect more with others. And when I talk about connecting, I also mean that sometimes people just don't like you. And that has to be the most normal thing in the world. You're not going to be everyone's cup of tea, and not everyone will be yours either.
