ecoTrain QOTW 9.9: "DO WE NEED A GURU OR TEACHER IN ORDER TO GROW SPIRITUALLY?" by @pablo1601

The decision to take life to a spiritual realm is a need that arises from within our being and is adopted as a philosophy of life.

As a child I used to believe in certain people who become our references and generally we all want to imitate. They could be super heroes or why not our own parents?

As I grew up and matured I have realized that many of the beliefs or idealizations that we have as children are a product of the purity and innocence characteristic of that stage of life.

Personally, I never believed in a leader, guru or spiritual master, as I believe that this often leads to not being able to see what we have in front of us. I do not believe in the idealizations of certain characters, even though from them you can learn a lot.

Throughout my life I have had very bad experiences with religion, since in many opportunities they have shown me that they are great spiritual leaders from their words, in their speeches, but in their actions those words are forgotten. Obviously these experiences have made me stop believing in the church as an institution formed by men that many times are not up to the circumstances. This does not imply that one moves away from God, my faith and my closeness to him are intact, but today my contact is direct with him and not with those who call themselves his earthly intermediaries.

I believe that the figure of teachers or gurus in all areas of life, not only in the spiritual plane, may not be entirely positive for our growth, for the expansion of our minds because many times by blindly following certain people we lose the ability to see other things, other points of view and it may also be that we may lose some ability to think and discover new things, new sensations.

As I expressed in the first paragraph of this publication, the decision to lead a spiritual life is born as a need of our inner self and it is only necessary to know how to listen to ourselves, to give ourselves the time to achieve that connection that makes us see life from another angle, to see the things we live in our daily lives with another perspective.

One day, some time ago, I woke up very early, I raised the blinds, opened the windows and felt something special. That shy sun coming out of the horizon and that fresh breeze that flooded the bedroom felt different.

Since that day I am no longer the same, I felt that I grew from the personal, from the spiritual. My days were transformed and many of my worries were expelled from my mind and it was fantastic.

Since I was a child I had a very good connection with nature, animals and plants and I think it may be because of the development of my spiritual plane at a very early age.

Today I try to feed my soul, my spirituality by listening to many people with great wisdom from whom I always get good things, but who are far from being great teachers.

My spiritual references are "Mother Teresa of Calcutta", Pope "John Paul II" and the recently deceased "Naty Petrosino".

I am not going to tell you much about Mother Teresa and Pope John Paul II, because they are personalities known not only for their messages of love, peace and spirituality, but also because those words were embodied in their works during their time on this planet.

The figure of Naty Petrosino emerged many, many years ago in my hometown Bahía Blanca, Argentina. She was a very wealthy person who at a certain point in her life, after a serious illness and coming back to life after having been clinically dead, decided to make a complete change in her life.

After that episode where she claims to have had contact with God, she decided to abandon her life of luxury and put herself at the disposal of those who have less. She did a great work with the native communities of my country doing a work very similar to Mother Teresa of Calcutta, but obviously on a much smaller scale.

Life is very beautiful if we learn to live it and especially if we learn to connect with our inner self.

Enjoy walking under the sun, the gentle breeze that ruffles our hair, walking in the rain. Contemplate the sea and its immensity, that deep blue sky. Listen to the music and the wonders that nature gives us.

Well dear friends of #ecoTrain, so much for my presentation for the QOTW of the week!

I leave you a big hug!

I appreciate your contribution to this awesome topic which is pretty nice and encouraging. We all have our lives to live but in some points needs guidance to follow such path. We are not perfect but at the same time we can make decision on our own that we believe can lead us to a positive life style and spiritual belief.

they are personalities known not only for their messages of love, peace and spirituality, but also because those words were embodied in their works during their time on this planet.

Pope John Paul II and mother Theresa were awesome people with lovely teachings they impact in people's life that have positive meaning to follow and learn from. That's is a good example of a spiritual leader because they have what they can pass across which we can gain from in other to boost our spiritual lives by doing the right thing

Thank you very much for your words!

I really appreciate you stopping by my publication!

I think that if each of us would focus on living a life where the spiritual reigns, the world would be a much more beautiful place.

It is not enough to preach with words but with deeds, showing which is the path we have chosen.

Big hug!

You have done well in your post.

Personally, I feel that in whatever one is doing, one needs to have someone that can give them orientation and so a guru might needed

Thank you very much for your words!

Each of us have different needs and although I always listen to advice and try to learn from the best of each person I don't believe in gurus or teachers that guide our path with words but with actions.

I believe in the spiritual potential of human beings and for that it is not only necessary to learn from other people, but also to learn to value those little things that we have and many times we do not realize, but once we lose them it hurts our soul.

For this we do not need teachers or gurus, but to begin to give value to life in all its forms, to nature.

After all, the decision to lead a spiritually oriented life is a personal decision of each one of us and for this there are no magic recipes or infallible advice. It is only necessary to learn to listen to our heart.

Big hug
