RE: My September #GardenJournal

You have a lot going on in your garden! The fuchsia looks very healthy, despite the lack of flowers. I have not even been able to keep them alive, let alone in bloom.

Tip for the planters: short lengths of thorny stems will keep the diggers out. I put them on the dirt when I first plant the pots, and never have these problems anymore. As the plants grow, you can't see the thorny stems anymore. Just don't forget they are there, or you will discover why the diggers stay away!

Nice post!

Fuschias are tough: how do you do it? I have one that I have nearly killed a couple of times and recently it got hit by those very cold nights we had but I looked and it is sprouting again

I posted a fuchsia photo below. They need the soil to be a little moist but don't like sitting in water and you must fertilize them throughout the summer. Some people mist them in hot weather. Mine might be having problems because it's not getting the morning sun -- a vine is blocking that. I wish I had a good place to keep them through the winter.
