El Barca volvía a la Europa League, en este caso era el turno de enfrentar al Eintracht Frankfur en Alemania y un estadio repleto de aficionados alemanes que apoyaban al equipo local. El terreo no estaba en optimas condiciones según algunas fuentes y lo expresado por Xavi pero el FC Barcelona venia buscando dar un paso mas en busca de alcanzar el titulo de esta competición que les a tocado pelear y de la cual son el principal candidato para ganarla.
El Barcelona salia al campo con el siguiente once donde la nueva era decía presente, los jovenes buscaban sacar la cara en Europa League con ayuda de la experiencia: Ter Stegen, Araujo, Eric García, Piqué, Jordi Alba, Busquets, Pedri, Gavi, Adama, Ferran y Aubameyang.
El Eintracht salio al campo con sus guerreros y estaban dispuestos a dar pelea: Trapp, Tuta, Hinteregger, N'Dicka, Knauff, Jakic, Sow, Kostic, Lindstrom, Kamada y Borré.
El partido comenzó con niveles altos de tensión y un Barca hambriento del gol, desde el inicio empezó el asedio azulgrana y Ferran avisaba con disparo pero Trapp saca mano prodigiosa para atajar.

Fue un juego emocionante y que se torno feo para el Barca después de las impresiones de la primera parte y aun mas después del 1-0 a favor de los alemanes,el conjunto azulgrana no mostraba mucho peligro al arco rival hasta que se juntaron dos jóvenes para dar tranquilidad y el empate, un resultado que sabe bien al equipo del Barca a ser en campo rival y ya intentar definir la eliminatoria en casa, se puede catalogar de valioso el empate en Alemania.
