Hello beautiful people! I hope you're all doing great and if you're not, you will be soon! I'm back again after taking a break from the blog, and this time I'm here to share some fan art of Holozing, the Ocean Curator. I drew it using traditional media, kind of like a tattoo design. Personally, I really liked it, and I received some great feedback.

Hola gente bonita! ¡Espero estén súper bien todos y si no lo están, pronto lo estarán! Nuevamente vuelvo después de un tiempo de haber abandonado el blog y esta vez les vengo a compartir un fan art de Holozing, es la curadora del océano. La hice en tradicional, tipo como diseño para un tatuaje, a mi en lo personal me gusto muchísimos y recibí muy buenos comentarios.

About a year or more ago, I drew a picture of the ocean healer, and in that drawing I created a sort of portrait that included a fish in the composition. This time, I wanted to revisit that idea but take it even further. The general idea was to create a portrait and surround the character with lots of fish.

Hace como un año o mas, hice un dibujo de la sanadora del océano y en aquel dibujo hice como un retrato donde incluía un pez a la composición del dibujo, pero esta vez quise retomar esa idea, pero llevándola aun mas allá. La idea en general fue hacer un retrato y hacer muchos peces alrededor del personaje.

I started by sketching in my new sketchbook, and I’m not going to lie, I had a really hard time structuring the face for this drawing, so much so that I had to resort to the age old grid technique, which basically involves drawing squares on the reference image and then drawing a grid on the paper, both grids must be the same size, with each square measuring four units. And that’s how I was able to structure the face.

Comencé haciendo el boceto en mi nuevo cuaderno de dibujos y no les voy a mentir, me costo bastante el estructurar el rostro para este dibujo, tanto así que tuve que recurrir a la milenaria técnica de las cuadriculas, que básicamente consiste en hacer cuadros en la imagen de referencia y luego hacer cuadriculas en la hoja, ambas partes deben de tener la misma medida con cada cuatro. Y pues así fue que pude estructurar el rostro.

Once I had the entire face well defined, I started drawing all the fish around it. To be honest, I just looked up a few references of fish and drew them as I went along. After that, I cleaned up the sketch by running a kneaded eraser over it to remove the excess graphite, leaving the entire drawing ready to be colored.

Una vez que tuve todo el rostro bien estructurado, comencé a hacer todos los peces a su alrededor. La verdad solo busque varias referencias de peces y los hice haciendo en el dibujo. Después de eso, lo que hice fue limpiar el boceto, pasando por encima de este un borrador moldeable y así quitar el exceso de grafito para así dejar todo el dibujo listo para pintarlo.

I didn't want to do a detailed painting; I just wanted to add a little contrast to it. I used ink and added water to dilute it so I could achieve various shades. I painted the entire drawing little by little, and once it was completely painted, I went over it with a mechanical pencil, adding some line art to give the drawing a bit more depth, and that’s it, folks that’s all there is to it.

No quise hacer un trabajo profundo de pintura, solo para darle un poco de contraste al mismo. Use tinta y me ayude de agua para diluirla y así poder obtener varios tonos. Fui pintando poco a poco todo el dibujo y una vez lo tuve totalmente pintado, lo que hice después fue detallarlo con un portaminas, agregando un poco de line art al mismo y así darle de cierto modo, un poco mas de cuerpo al dibujo y listo amigos eso seria todo.
