Transferring the avocado plants that germinated in glasses of water to plastic bags

A big greeting and a big hug to the entire Homesteading community, especially to all those farmers and plant lovers who share their stories every day and every week. experiences related to their crops.

I tell you that 35 days ago I put three avocado seeds to germinate in some disposable cups, and fortunately the three seeds germinated satisfactorily, the plants have now reached a height of 15 centimeters, so the time has come to transfer them to the plastic bags for that continue to grow, in this new medium, they will feed on a good substrate based on soil and worm castings. These plants will remain in the bags until they reach a height of 35 centimeters, which is the ideal height for their definitive transplant in field.

Yes friends, the time has come to transfer these plants to plastic bags so that their roots can develop and therefore the plant can also grow, and then take it to the field.

  • Here you can see the plants 35 days after having put the seed to germinate:

  • Now I am going to place the plants inside plastic bags, whose bags will have small holes for drainage of the irrigation water. I'll start by placing a layer of soil in the bottom of the bag, then I put the plant in and add more substrate.

  • The next thing will be to water the substrate well:

In these bags, the plants will remain for about 25 days, during this time we must provide them with their proper irrigation and in addition to this, it is important to fumigate them with foliar fertilizer of the formula N-P-K 10-50-10, the phosphorus is to strengthen the root system of the plant. When the plant reaches a height of 35 to 40 centimeters, it can be considered ideal or suitable for transplanting into the open field.

Why should guacate plants not be transplanted when they are very small?

When avocado plants are very small, they are too delicate, any water stress affects them, they cannot withstand the attack of pests and cutting insects such as bachacos and crickets, nor can they be grafted, because their stem is still weak. However, when the avocado plant has reached a height greater than 35 to 40 centimeters it is stronger, considered ideal or suitable for transplanting into open fields and for any graft, so that if we want our small avocado plants to survive open field, it is best to wait for them to grow in plastic bags until they are vigorous and reach a height of 35 to 40 centimeters.

Well friends, I say goodbye to you, hoping that this information has been to your liking, I wish you much success in your crops whether in the open field, in pots or in the garden of your home, greetings, God bless you.

Hello friend, look, I have a farm, and yet I like to grow some legumes in pots to place on the balcony. In fact, my wife uses the cilantro on the balcony for her meals, so you can grow them in pots when you go away. to your new house, you take your plants, at least you have made some progress, greetings.
