A Walk along the banks of the Tâmega River - Portuguese City

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog :-)

a walk along the banks of the Tâmega River.jpg

One of the most beautiful walks we took in Chaves was along the banks of the Tâmega River. The river crosses the entire city accompanied by a garden and on both banks large, extremely well-kept green spaces, allowing everyone to enjoy this place without crowding together, allowing blankets to be placed, picnics to be had, games to be played.

This is the Tabolado garden. Here we found a tennis club and a paddle tennis club where some trained and others simply played for fun, as well as municipal swimming pools and a huge children's playground. This utility is very well used, with entertainment for children of different ages and parents have not been forgotten as, around the entire space there is a bench so you can keep an eye on the little ones.

In addition to the parents, they also haven't forgotten the hot days, so there are awnings to protect their explorers from the sun. We passed many people running and others walking. There are several bridges along the route that allow us to cross from one bank to the other, but one of these caught our attention. The bridge of "poldras" which is like a bridge of pebbles :-)

As we can imagine, we soon tried crossing to the other bank, but there is no possibility of taking photos at the moment as here we either jump or fall into the water :-) It's a lot of fun but it really requires a lot of concentration. In the surrounding area we can find a tourist office and many restaurants with various menu offerings.

On the banks there is a staircase that delights those who pass by. We can sit and admire the river and in summer it will certainly help you put your feet in the cool water. It must be delicious accompanied by ice cream :-)
Continuing our walk we came across two hearts full of padlocks. I believe that the tradition of the padlock bridge or Pont des Arts that exists in Paris is spreading a little throughout the world. At least around here, we have already visited some that already have a lot of padlocks, here in Chaves they opted for the symbol of love to symbolically immortalize their passions :-)

In my youth I often saw these carvings being replaced by engravings on trees, and I still think they haven't gone out of fashion because we found some!
And as today is the day of Love, I leave here an excerpt from Miguel Torga about the city of Chaves:

"I'm going to tell you about a Wonderful Kingdom. Although many people say no, there have always been and will be wonderful kingdoms in this world. What is necessary, to see them, is that the eyes do not lose their original virginity in the face of reality and the heart, then, don't hesitate. Now, what I intend to show, mine and all those who want to deserve it, not only exists but is one of the most beautiful things imaginable. It starts right away because it is at the top of Portugal, just as the nests are at the top of Portugal. up in the trees so that the distance makes them more impossible and desirable."

Book: A Wonderful Kingdom

I hope you enjoyed.
See you around.
Wishing you much peace and health

Those who pass by us do not go alone. They leave a bit of themselves, taking a piece of us."

The 2 buildings above have unique and beautiful architecture, the garden view also looks natural and has a very comfortable feel to enjoy, I was really amazed to see the shady trees that had started to fall

The trees will start to come to life soon and I hope to be able to come back to see them in their prime.
Thank you as always for stopping by :-)

It is a beautiful river. I had never seen a beautiful garden like Tabolado Garden. That bridge is an impressive installation. Your photography skills are awesome. Taking pictures like you will be a dream. Traveling to this place is also a dream for the travelers. Thank you.

Hi there @jishan5. I don't think we've ever seen a garden this size crossing a city and with the bonus of having a river running alongside it. Thank you very much for the compliment on the photos. I'm happy to be able to take people on a journey with my posts. Thank you for your words:-)

It looks like a perfect place for a walk, or for a whole day picnic with friends and family! I like that small pebble bridge, but also the other one, with big arcs, from stone! As I can see, the river isn't that deep, so it's not dangerous for small kids to play around either!

Thanks for sharing these beautiful photos! I enjoyed the walk!

We found the park perfect for all these activities. In fact, all the bridges have their charm but there is another one that I didn't show and that has a lot of history.
The river was not very full, I believe that in summer the water level is like this. Thanks for your words :-)

Tabolado gardenis is well plan, I have been thinking of how serene it's going to be playing tennis in this place.
In all, the banks of the Tâmega River is a beautiful place.

Hello there @name0 😊.
It was our first visit to Chaves and I hope it won't be our last. Everything is beautiful, but the fact that nature is so present is what makes the city unforgettable. Not to mention the food! Thank you for stopping by🙂
