Because ethereum was heading for $4k before the dip's happened and now it looks like it's struggling to stay above $3k for some time now, Some crypto trader's think Ethereum has been knocked out due to the current market condition and current price is at $2849.53, but I will let you know this Ethereum isn't knocked out, and isn't going to happening even by a long shot because Ethereum has very strong fundamentals and more mind blowing updates upcoming on the Ethereum Blockchain. Which could even make it a household name like Bitcoin.
Ethereum is the most used digital asset in the crypto space, it dominate in the NFT space, there are so many projects and application that will be used and built on the ethereum blockchain network. The most important update for me on Ethereum, is the ENS(Ethereum Name Service), with all you to Import a DNS Domain Name to ENS, which means you can now import already existing website's to ethereum blockchain, for decentralized web experience.
The ethereum name service (ENS) allows user to own their username , store a game avatar and so many more. The native suffix is .eth, and it has all the security benefits of being on the ethereum blockchain. The ENS ecosystem has 54 available wallets to work with, which includes Coinbase, Metamask Trustwallet and many more.
The ENS was created to match human readable names to match machine readable names like content hashes, metadata, cryptocurrency addresses. which is so cool because is solves the problem of you copy and paste your long crypto address and thinking that you made a mistake in the address you copied and sent, with ENS you don't need to stress your self on that, you can send NFTs and Cryptocurrency to a .eth account.
For example:you can send crypto and NFTs to a .eth account with an easy name as yourname.eth rather than having to copy and paste long crypto wallet addresses.

You can see that Ethereum is making moves that no other cryptocurrency has done. In my own opinion Ethereum can become a household name in the nearest future.
