Over the years, BTC has remained the knight in shining armour of the cryptocurrency space. And not even the recent price crash or the tumult the crypto space has endured over the last few months has dethroned BTC as the numero uno cryptocurrency.

Apparently, BTC has now been recognized by none other than the Guinness Book of World Records as the FIRST DECENTRALISED CRYPTOCURRENCY!

To be sincere, I never actually saw this coming because I’ve only known Guinness World Records to take note of and record human achievements and things of natural occurrence since its inception on August 27, 1955—67 years and counting. On another note, it is not difficult to see why the currency has achieved this great feat. I mean, the currency has received global recognition and adoption over the years.

For instance, in 2016, the word "bitcoin" was added to the Merriam-Webster Unabridged Dictionary, and two years later it entered the Scrabble lexicon. This year, Guinness World Records (GWR) has given recognition to Satoshi Nakamoto’s invention, as bitcoin is considered the "first decentralized cryptocurrency."

I should also mention that, since its inception in 2009, Bitcoin has been referred to as not only the "First Decentralized Cryptocurrency," but also the "Oldest" and "Most Valuable."

Again, the currency has stayed on top of the crypto market since its inception, in terms of market capitalization, trading value, adoption, and popularity. Despite the creation of countless currencies, BTC has continued to maintain the status quo.

My friend @onwugbenuvictor says Bitcoin has grown too big to be ignored, and I couldn’t agree more.

What are your thoughts on the recent developments?

Do you think Bitcoin deserves this world record as the first decentralized cryptocurrency?
