Iran's most powerful military commander, Gen Qasem Soleimani, has been killed by a US air strike in Iraq. The 62-year-old spearheaded Iranian military operations in the Middle East as head of Iran's elite Quds Force. He was killed at Baghdad airport, along with other Iran-backed militia figures, early on Friday in a strike ordered by US President Donald Trump- BBC News
The internet is running amok over US strike on Iran killing one of its top Militia, absolute clueless people are already making a joke about an ensuing world war three and these individuals won't last a week if and when it starts. War is not a child's play, it sets civilization backwards a decade or more, regardless of who won, blood will be spilled, children will become fatherless and motherless, wives and husbands will be rendered widows and widowers amongst other sinister things that happens during war.
Iran's most powerful ruler has threatened revenge on the US and this fuels the old tension between the two countries which could spread out to other countries interested in going to war against the US. As you know, the allies of the US won't lay idle hence a full blown World War might ensue.
It is more scary in this age of Nuclear attacks and sophisticated warfare, this could be rampage and whether you sign up to join the fight on either ends, death might still come indirectly. Year 2020 is a promising year even though its just three days old, hopefully we all get to see it through and not be blown away by explosives from both friendlies or the enemies!

Hundred percent correct. People joke as a way to quiet their own anxiety or pretend it doesn't exist.
Me, I am confident that sense will prevail. If sense doesn't prevail, self-interest due to oil and other resources will keep things from getting out of hand.
In either case, no WW3. There might be violence in Iraq and even Iran and it would be ghastly for the people on the ground -- but it won't sweep across the region any more than the existing violence in the Middle East already does.
Except for hezbullah operating in the USA?

Highly unlikely. Not impossible but America has transformed its whole security apparatus, its whole worldview, its whole culture because of just 9/11.
I have a very hard time seeing such happen again.
On the other hand, cyber attacks might be much more viable and, in some ways, more dangerous and harder to defend against.
