Douglas striker

Hello everyone, i have a new piece to share today and i think you are going to like this one.

Douglas orig.png

Douglas striker was inspired by my best friend's dog, he's one grumpy fellow, i am more of a cat person but i love dogs just as much and i have always wanted to create a canine character.
Creating Douglas was a fun experience that i would enjoy telling you about.

The sketch

It all started with this sketch.

The digital line drawing

I recreated the sketch digitally with autodesk sketch app.

I chose a common dog animation colour but a slight mix of some other colours like tan brown and pink and i wanted his eyes to be a little scary so i made them red.

Stage two of colouring

His costume colour was inspired Ben 10😇.

Shadow and highlights

Shading and highlights always give the characters life, with depths abd forms.

I created smoke screen with a white airbrush at different spray sizes and i sprayed a little bit of black around to blend.

The glowing splints from fire crackle effect was a fun effect to create, i did that with a glow airbrush, i just random put dots across the piece👍
