Chhath Puja is a festival of Purity which is fully in the devotion and offering the prayer to the Solar Deity (SURYA DEV) in order to giving him the thanks for the bestOwing and also for the the existence of life on the earth .This festival is mainly observed by the people of Bihar and Nepal and this festival is also celebrated by the peoples of Uttar Pradesh who were used to live in the Eastern part of Uttar Pradesh the two locations which were most prominent and famous for the celebration of Chhath Puja is Bakargaon in Nalanda and ular Sun Temple in Patna

Why Chhath Puja is so important among the peoples of of Bihar and for the People's who were living in the certain areas of Uttar Pradesh and Nepal and what is the procedure of Chhath puja?


  • Chhath Puja is one of the famous festival which is celebrated by the peoples of Bihar and some other reason which I already mentioned about in my blog but it started on the 6th day of Kartika according to Hindi calender

  • the festival is mainly celebrated to thank the God Sun for supporting life on earth

  • the duration of this festival is of 4 days this festival include fasting offering prayers to the the rising and Sunset Sun Holy bathing and meditation while standing in the water

The duration of this festival is four days as I mentioned above and the rituals in fault in Chhath Puja are as follows

Day 1 is known as NAHAY KHAY
On this day the devotees who are involved in Chhath puja use to take a DIP in River Ganga Koshi and Karnali and after then they take some holy water at their home to prepare the offerings and it is one of the most important rituals of Chhath puja which we used to do on first day

Day 2 is Known as KHARNA OR LOHANDA
On the second day of Chhath Puja the devotees who are fasting for whole the day use to end their fast by worshipping the sunset and after then they used to prepare offerings like bananas and rice for the family and after worshipping the sun and moon the devotees consume the Prasad and has a fast for 36 hours without water and it's this is the toughest part of this fasting many of the peoples were not be able to fast in this precious festival

Day 3 is known as Sandhya araghya
The third day of Chhath Puja is also observed with full day fast without water for the entire day and on that day the devotees involve in preparing the Puja offerings and later on cap that offerings in a bamboo tree the things which were included in the offerings are thekua banana different type of seasonal fruit coconut and many other things on the evening of 3rd day the ritual take place at the bank of river aur lake or any type of clean water and finally all the devotee araghya to the Sunset Sun

4th day is known as BIHANIYA ARAHYA

  • The fourth day is the last day of Chhath puja and at this moment the devotees again assemble to the bank of river or any type of clean water and offer the prayer and Prasad to the rising Sun after offering are done the devotees break their fast by eating Ginger sugar aur anything which is available in the locality after all the rituals of Chhath puja this amazing festival of purity ends

What is the scientific significance of Chhath puja

  • Chhath Puja is the best way to get your body detoxified at by taking dips in water and exposing the body to sunlight increases the flow of solar as well as bio electricity which used to enhance and improve the functionality of a body it is also said that or belief that Chhath Puja helps to kill the harmful bacteria and other diseases from the body for the upcoming winter season

Chhath Puja is also celebrated in the time of summers after Holi but Kartik month chath puja took more importance as compared to the Chhath Puja which we used to celebrate at the time of Summer and the valuation of this festival is very much so fir that reason the people who used to live away from their home town travel in a large number during the festival of Chhath puja to reach their hometown and celebrate this festival with their family

Finally the festivals ends and its the time for my mother to ends her difficult fasting of 3 days and we all are very happy because she didnot faced Any medical illness during these 3 days of fasting

Lovely photos and I love our diversified rituals, 36 hrs fasting is tough - I can barely fast beyond 8 hrs.
