The Punch Was Uncalled For.

Hello, everyone.

Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the hive learners' featured post. For as long as we don't live in isolated areas, we must have witnessed people quarreling or even been the ones quarreling.

Quarreling is part of human life. The only way you can escape quarreling is if you live alone, with no neighbors or roommates. Even if you try to avoid it and live in isolated or lonely areas, the day you step foot into a busy place, if you are not lucky enough, you tend to get into a quarrel.

I play football. This makes quarreling a constant amongst me and my friends. Failure to pass the ball or passing the ball at the wrong time can result in a quarrel. Sometimes we might be opponents. Hitting me too hard while tackling can also result in a quarrel. When the pressure is high, you tend to forget that you are friends off the pitch.

The only thing I love about us is that every quarrel on the pitch stays on the pitch. Once the final whistle is blown, we tend to forget everything. We even walk home together and leave people wondering if we were really the ones quarreling earlier.

Sometime ago, I had to be a mediator between my friend and one other guy, whom I knew nothing about. The other guy was shouted at for missing a goal. Before we could say anything, the other guy was already throwing punches at my friend. Other players intervened and were holding him down while I was trying to calm my friend down.

I was backing the other guy. I don't know how he managed to slip out of their hands. He wanted to punch my friend, but got me instead. This guy punched me on the back of my head and everything went dark and blank for a few seconds 😂. After I recovered from the punch, all three of us went outside the pitch.

After a lot of talking about how football is a game of love and not what they are turning it into, they both settled their differences by apologizing to each other. I wasn't left out of the apology because I deserved some. The guy apologized for the knockout punch.

We later became friends with the other guy after that day.

Thanks for reading my post.

I learnt my lesson that day my dear. Once I see two people fighting now, I talk to them from meters away 😂.

Hehehe 🤣🤣 we share the same experience lolz 🤣 and the lesson I learnt was to never stand in between fights but I should always be strategic to avoid the fatal blow

Yeah bro, I definitely can relate to this. I play football too and I love doing it. Most times fights occur on the field and just as you’ve said it stays there.

I can’t remember how many people I’ve shouted on or fought with on the field just for dribbling too much and not passing, reckless tackling or missing a goal. But after the match, we just forget about everything and move on.

I remember the day we played with another school, I had scored two goals in first half, but in the second half, I missed a one-one-one with the goalkeeper. I would’ve scored an hat trick that day. My teammates were so angry, they shouted on me and blamed me for not scoring. But after the match, we all laughed together like nothing happened.

Although we’ve (my teammates) never exchanged blows on the field, we’ve pushed each other, shouted and insulted each other. I’m so sorry you about the blow😂😂😂.

Thanks for sharing.

Throwing punches hardly happen but that day was just a different one. The blow was one heavyweight blow 🤣, Thanks.

Hehe... One reason I don't like getting in between two fighting people. All it takes is just one misplaced punch. You did good though, and I'm happy to see that you all went on to be friends.

Thank you for sharing this with us.

I learnt from experience and never in my life will I ever stay between two fighting people.

Hmmm so sorry you had to take a punch while serving as a mediator, football always comes with hard feelings, but I hope they learn to control it not to get physical next time.

They served their punishments afterwards and I believe they have learnt their lesson.

Thanks for reading.
