Betterlife With Hive: A Day At The Market.
Greetings Everyone.
W3Word
I visited one of the local markets in Cross River State Nigeria, the edor market takes place after every five days, I was opportuned to visit the market and I took pictures of the items I bought. #marketfriday
A picture of me looking all tired and exhausted.
My day started quite early because of the task ahead, my mom asked me to follow her to the market for a little shopping for the house, I knew it was not going to be easy on me from my last experience. We all woke up at exactly 4:37AM, said our morning prayer as a family and afterwards my siblings and I started carrying out our daily activities.
A picture of my mom.
While my mom was taking her bath I was busy preparing breakfast so as to meet up, after preparing breakfast I went to take my bath while she was eating breakfast. At around 8:15AM we were already at the bus stop waiting for a taxi going our way, at 8:25AM we successfully boarded a bus and were en route to the market.
At exactly 8:47AM we arrived the market and the stress I signed up for started as I followed her round the market carrying everything she bought, we kept moving round the market as the price of things has inflated badly and now varies from the initial budget.
We bought a pair of slippers for my younger brother 500 naira which is equivalent to 1.2 Hive.
we bought crayfish and stock worth 2500 naira which is equivalent to 5.2 Hive .
We bought two bottles of Palm Oil at 1400 naira which is equivalent to 3.1 Hive.
Bought vegetables at 300 naira which is equivalent to 0.7 Hive.
At around 12:25PM we were done buying and was about heading home when she remembered she needs to buy meat that will be used to prepare stew, she left me standing at bus station for about 15 minutes and this added to my tiredness and got me angry.
At around 1:30PM we arrived home, I took a bath and my siblings that were at home served us lunch, after eating I was exhausted and I decided to take a nap.
Lunch.
I woke at around 3:00PM, say outside with some friends, we talked about football, the premier league match that will be taking place the following day while we waited for 4:30PM because we all play football.
my friends.
At 4:25PM they all left to go get their football kits, since I am not fit to play, I just followed to watch them play. The football training ended at exactly 6:15PM and we all headed back home. My siblings prepared dinner, I ate and we said our prayer and we all went to bed.
One thing I don´t following my mom or aunt to the market is how they would go round the market looking for cheap goods and products and in the end, we would be stressed. You used over four hours in the market, that definitely added to the stress you had and I can see how things are so expensive. I have gotten an idea of some things now because it´s been long I have gone to the market. Thanks for sharing.
I actually regretted following her but in the end of it all, I thank God I did because it was as if I went for sight seeing.
Thanks for reading my post.
Lol, you wouldn´t have shared your pictures with us if you didn´t follow her. So this was an opportunity for you. It´s my pleasure reading too.
Did you drop the link on the #MarketFriday post here
Thank you!
I will do that now.
Thanks ma'am.
I am actually glad you followed your mom there, what a huge help that must have been for her. I know how heavy it is to carry around everything. She probably doesn't get that kind of help every day. Mothers don't get to nap on a normal basis.
Thank you for stepping out of your comfort zone and helping out! It is always nice to see.
#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that is these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.
