A Holiday To Remember
Greetings Everyone.
Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the hive learners' featured post. We all have holidays we love to talk about because of how fun they were. We also have holidays we hate to talk about. We don't even want to remember such a holiday because of the awful feeling we get when we do so.
For me, a holiday is a period of time when you are supposed to take a break from all academic activities, have time for yourself, and do the things that academic activities have prevented you from doing.Have all the fun in the world, but my parents won't let you have such. They keep reminding you that learning never ends.
Sometimes because of this I don't like going home for the holidays, because they won't let me spend my holiday the way I want to. For as long as you still want a roof over your head, you just have to dance to their tune, whether you like it or not. I attended a boarding school for a while before I switched to a day school. At the boarding house you are free and only disturbed by the prefects. I got so used to this lifestyle.

I had my best holiday experience in 2013. Mom and my siblings travelled to the village, leaving just my dad and I. The feeling was heavenly. I got all I asked for without hesitation, though I felt lonely sometimes. It was as if my dad was under a spell, but he was only doing it so I don't feel the absence of the others that much.
Sometimes I followed him to the office, and that was my first time operating a computer. Following him to the office gave me ideas about Microsoft Word and what it was used for. I became his personal assistant. I was in charge of typing for him while he does the other work. When I am done typing, he checks the work to make sure I did the right thing.
I was home alone with Dad for my best holiday ever. I am yet to have such an experience again, but I'm praying for it low-key.
I really regret ever going to spend my holiday with an aunt that owns a restaurant. In 2017, I decided to spend my holiday away from home. I was given a warm welcome, as always, and allowed to rest for a day before I was introduced to the rules and how things were done around their house.
No one stays awake past bedtime, which is 9 PM. Why on earth would I go to bed by 9 PM? As if that was not enough, everyone was to wake up at 2AM for morning devotion, after which preparations for the day's sale were made. Cooking and cleaning of the restaurant commence immediately after the devotion. There is no time to rest during the day as customers continue to troop in and out of the restaurant.
The first two days in her house were hell for me because I was still trying to adapt. Waking up that early was not my thing, but I just had to adapt. After a week of staying in her house, I learnt my lesson and won't even wait for bedtime before going to sleep, so I can have enough rest at least.
My visit to my aunt's house actually helped me learn how to cook. I never knew how to cook because I attended a boarding school and I had little or no time for cooking.
Thanks for reading my post.
Well, one thing that I have learned about dads is that they always spoil kids with whatever the kids want. Dads are superheroes.
Well, I feel since everyone in your aunt's place literally engaged in the devotion and the taken care of the restaurant part, you be the only one not cool with it as you are new to the system
Dads are superheroes for sure, you feel safe each time you are with him.
I was not cool with it at all, it was as if I am been stressed 🤧.
hmmmmm this is always fun as usual well done my friend you rock
Waking as early as 2 am isn't on your agenda from the search 😂. I understand how you would feel the first few days.. It's a lesson though.
As to your best holiday, what you enjoyed was the access to the computer and you learned something nice too. That's cool.
Don't worry, that your prayer for another opportunity will be answered. Enjoy buddy. One love 👍
I can totally relate to your best holiday, I had something like that many years ago. I was actually praying for my siblings not to return from their trip so I can continue enjoying everything my dad gives me without having to share with my siblings 😆
Nah this kind things you the like.
quite an experience bro. I is quite lovely reading this made me feel I was the person been treated in such manner. Those times when our parents tend to be extra caring are always very rare and it is always a great experience.
Your experience with your auntie is quite sad, but such is life, at one point or another we have to experience such it is what makes life complete.

I am glad you learnt something from your aunt's place which is cooking.
Ahn...
People who's parents run restaurants and fast foods always experineve such. Just that they eventually get used to that lifestyle. At least you learned something from that trip.
