My children and I stayed at home at the epicenter of the war

Hello everyone, dear mom and dad.

A week ago in this community, I wrote a post about how to talk to children about war. It was a premonition, because I wrote it in peacetime in my country, Ukraine. Two days after my letter, a real full-scale war broke out in my country.

My blog has turned into a military blog, where I write about what happened in a particular city during the day.

But not about that now. Now I want to tell you that I stayed with my three children at home, in the center of Ukraine in Kyiv, at the epicenter of all events.

I can't tell you how scared I am as a mother. They bomb cities with rockets, destroy residential neighborhoods, entire cities. People are dying, children are dying. It's all very scary. People spend the night in basements and shelters.

Missile explosions can be heard in my house, but the overall picture is calmer.

My children and I are at home all the time and have gone outside several times. All schools and kindergartens across the country are closed!

I don't even know how to describe how I feel as a mother. We hid in the basement during the air raid, ran to hide in the bathroom after every sound of explosions or a flying plane.

My children are holding up very well. They go about their business in quiet time, play, draw. My husband and I told the children a lot about the war, the state of war.

There is a problem with the products. Store shelves are devastated very quickly, and the supply of new products due to the shelling is impossible.

My children

Our lives have changed. In the evening we live with the lights off, the children had to get used to this rule. I am also afraid to take a bath for children, because it will be a long time and in case of danger you will not be able to quickly dress the child and take him to the basement. Therefore, they wash in the shower very quickly. Personally, I'm afraid to even wash my head, I constantly listen to the sounds on the street.

As a mother, I am very afraid for my children, I can't let them walk down the street by themselves, we are sitting at home. I can't sleep normally, I'm ready to run to the shelter all the time. Children's sleep has become a huge value. When they can sleep in their cozy beds all night, as in peacetime - it's worth its weight in gold. Because several times I had to wake them up and take them to the basement for storage ...

We have a lot of people who have not left their homes and stay at home until the last minute. Many have nowhere to go. There is also a war going on at the borders - people with children stay at the border for 4 days. I can't imagine how I would have survived this with my three children.

We are still holding on, baking bread at home and having a small supply of food. I allow children to watch cartoons as much as they want. The main thing is to have electricity and the Internet. In many cities this is no longer the case ...

We are fine. I don't have a lot of photos, because it's not up to photography at home during such events.

I wish you all that you never feel the horror, the fear that my whole country has felt. I wish the entire Planet of Peace and that you never wake up to the sounds of artillery fire. I wish your men never left the family and did not go to war ...

Thank you all for reading, sorry for such a difficult topic.

Дякую. Я боюсь виїжджати, занадто небезпечна дорога і далека( Але будем дивитись по ситуації.
