My Soul's Sweet Escape

Image
My restless soul does ache to slip its moorings free,
Each night as darkness falls and slumber claims the earth,
Away from flesh and bone it flies on lightning wings,
To see your vision in its dreaming sojourn's mirth.
In dreams our souls do meet without barriers between,
As reason sheds its reins and fantasy holds sway,
There is no space or time our hearts cannot redeem,
As etheric reflections in each other play.
Though daylight calls my soul to its earthly tether once more,
The memories of night still fill my mind's rich trove,
Our longing knows no bounds, connecting soul to core,
In dreamscapes of mystic joy that come from above.
