Dare me | Review | [Eng&Esp]
Hi hivers! Today I want to talk to you about a series that many people had recommended to me but that didn't catch my attention. On Netflix there is a lot of content, good and bad. Teen series abound on the platform and the plots are repetitive, the truth is I thought Dare me was another of these unnecessary series. But I was pleasantly surprised to see this series. Dare me is a mature series, with a good plot, excellent performances and with a very good production that made me consider this series as a hidden gem or very little promoted in the netflix catalog.
¡Hola hivers! Hoy quiero hablarles sobre una serie que muchas personas me habían recomendado pero que no me llamaba la atención. En Netflix hay muchísimo contenido, bueno y malo. Las series de adolescentes abundan en la plataforma y las tramas son repetitivas, la verdad pensaba que Dare me era otra de estas series innecesarias. Pero me llevé una grata sorpresa al ver esta serie. Dare me es una serie madura, con un buena trama, excelentes actuaciones y con una producción muy buena que me hizo considerar esta serie como una joya oculta o muy poco promocionada en el catálogo de netflix.
You can consider Dare me as a thriller different from what we are used to in terms of high school and teen series. The plot revolves around two friends Beth (Marlo Kelly) and Addy (Herizen Guardiola) who more than friends are accomplices in many adventures in a small rural town. Beth is the leader of a cheerleading squad in which Addy also participates and will soon be replaced by a strict coach who will have the mission of leading the team to the regional competition. From the beginning Addy shows admiration for the coach and Beth begins to feel a little displaced by her friend and the team. The arrival of Coach Colette (Willa Fitzgerald) will test Addy and Beth's friendship.
Se puede considerar a Dare me como un thriller diferente a lo que estamos acostumbrados en cuanto a series de instituto y adolescentes. La trama gira en torno a dos amigas Beth (Marlo Kelly) y Addy (Herizen Guardiola) que más que amigas son cómplices de muchas aventuras en un pequeño pueblo rural. Beth es la líder de un grupo de porristas en el que también participa Addy y pronto será reemplazada por una estricta entrenadora que tendrá la misión de llevar al equipo a la competencia regional. Desde el principio Addy muestra admiración por la entrenadora y Beth comienza a sentirse un poco desplazada por su amiga y por el equipo. La llegada de la entrenadora Colette (Willa Fitzgerald) pondrá a prueba la amistad de Addy y Beth.
At the end of the first episode, Beth and Addy discover a dark secret about Coach Colette that will lead them to negotiate with her to keep her secret from being revealed. Addy becomes much closer to the trainer and they become very close. Addy becomes Colette's accomplice in her dark secret. Meanwhile Beth is displaced by the trainer and her relationship with Addy becomes much more strained. Beth has a dysfunctional family, her father has another family and lives across the street with his new family, plus her stepsister is part of the cheerleading squad and her rivalry with her increases.
Al final del primer episodio, Beth y Addy descubren un oscuro secreto sobre la entrenadora Colette que las llevará a negociar con ella para que no se revele su secreto. Addy se acerca mucho más a la entrenadora y se vuelven muy unidas. Addy se vuelve cómplice de Colette en su oscuro secreto. Mientras tanto Beth se ve desplazada por la entrenadora y su relación con Addy se vuelve mucho más tensa. Beth tiene una familia disfuncional, su padre tiene otra familia y vive al frente de su casa con su nueva familia, además su hermanastra es parte del equipo de porristas y su rivalidad con ella aumenta.
During the course of the series we are shown how problematic teenage drug and alcohol use can be and the terrible consequences it brings. Beth suffers a terrible event during a forbidden party and must bear the weight and pain of that event on her own. The evolution of Beth's persona is incredible and Marlo Kelly's performance is excellent. The strained relationship between Addy and Beth, the difficulties in the cheerleading squad and many other difficult situations lead to a fatal outcome, a suicide. But the crime scene raises suspicions and does not match the suicide theory. The plot will take a 180° turn and we will have an ending that will leave us wanting more.
Durante el transcurso la serie nos muestra lo problemático que puede ser el uso de drogas y alcohol en adolescentes y las terribles consecuencias que esto trae. Beth sufre un terrible hecho durante una fiesta prohibida y deberá llevar el peso y el dolor de ese hecho ella sola. La evolución del persona de Beth es increíble y la actuación de Marlo Kelly es excelente. La tensa relación entre Addy y Beth, las dificultades en el equipo de porristas y muchas otras situaciones difíciles nos llevan a un desenlace fatal, un suicidio. Pero la escena del crimen levanta sospechas y no coincide con la teoría de suicidio. La trama dará un giro de 180° y tendremos un final que nos dejará con muchas ganas de más.
Dare Me is a series based on the 2012 novel of the same name by writer Megan Abbott. The series was produced and premiered by USA Network and distributed internationally by Netflix. The series had very good reviews and a good reception. Unfortunately this was not enough for USA Network to renew the series for a second season. The decision to cancel the series according to various sources was because USA Network preferred to focus on series like "Evel" or "The sinner" despite the fact that the latter has been running for 4 seasons and has not yet been able to match the success of the first season. I really hope it can soon be renewed for a second season as it left us with many questions and few answers. Plus a need to see the development of the characters and their final denouement.
Dare me es una serie basada en la novela homónima de 2012 de la escritora Megan Abbott. La serie fue producida y estrenada por USA Network y distribuida internacionalmente por Netflix. La serie tuvo muy buenas críticas y una buena recepción. Lastimosamente esto no fue suficiente para que USA Network renovara la serie para una segunda temporada. La decisión de cancelar la serie según diversas fuentes se debió a que USA Network prefirió centrarse en series como "Evel" o "The sinner" a pesar de que ésta última lleva 4 temporadas y aún no ha podido igualar el éxito de la primera temporada. De verdad espero que pronto pueda ser renovada para una segunda temporada ya que nos dejó con muchas preguntas y pocas respuestas. Además de una necesidad de ver el desarrollo de los personajes y su desenlace final.
Dare me is a series that has it all. It is a drama with a great casting, a good script, a very careful and well done production, good visual effects and a lot of intrigue, plus it presents the problems of youth from a deeper side and not so superficial. The best part is the plot twists that we love so much. I'm not going to lie to you saying that the series is at the same level of Euphoria but it does like and entertains, plus it's very well done.
Dare me es una serie que lo tiene todo. Es un drama con un gran casting, un buen guion, un producción muy cuidada y bien hecha, unos buenos efectos visuales y mucha intriga, además presenta los problemas de la juventud desde un lado más profundo y no tan superficial. Lo mejor son los giros de trama que tanto nos gustan. Tampoco les voy a mentir diciendo que la serie está a la altura de Euphoria pero si gusta y entretiene, además que está muy bien realizada.

Fijate que tengo tiempo algo bueno que ver en Netflix pero nunca había visto este titulo, definitivamente esta super escondida, que te puedo decir jejejej gracias a estas reseñas me entero de cosas buenas que se pueden ver en Netflix y no perder mi tiempo con cosas al azar, gracias por la recomendación.

Se oye super interesante. Desde el fiasco de Riverdale ya no me animo con este tipo de series jajajaja, pero le daré un chance a esta. Un pregunta, el hecho que Beth sufre me tiene pensativa ¿te refieres a que es abusada o es testigo de un abuso? Soy sensible con estos temas, así que me gusta saber si hay alguna escena o referencia en lo que voy a ver

Jaja no tiene nada que ver con Riverdale (fiasco total). Con respecto a Beth la respuesta es sí. Sin embargo la serie está muy cuidada y no son escenas perturbadoras ni hechas sólo para morbo de los espectadores. Muestra desde un lado más profundo este tipo de situaciones. Saludos.
