Enjoying a Sunny Day Out

avatar

Hot and Windy, but Nice.

I haven't been around Hive much recently as being a dad seems to make me busier every single day. He's getting to the age now where it's getting a bit harder to keep up with him! Before, I could easily just kind of fast walk behind him, but now I literally have to run and grab him before he runs out into the street, or does something crazy!

Walking along above White Point beach

Today we decided to take a trip up to White Point to hang out at a little playground area with an amazing view. We haven't been here ever since a young father got really angry at @little-ricky for following his toddler around the playground. It was the most bizarre encounter that I've had as a father so far.

He actually came up to me with an angry, frustrated expression and said, "He bro, can you tell your kid to stop looking at my son? He's all up in his business."

The whole thing was so asinine that I couldn't even come up with a response. I just kind of made a slightly confused face and picked up the little one and left. Even the other parents were looking at him as if to say "What the hell dude.."

"Daddy look! A big pineapple!"

We didn't go back for a few months because I knew that guy was always there, and other parents have had trouble with him. I don't know why, maybe it's because I'm getting older but I just don't like dealing with conflict and dramatic people these days.

Luckily, when we went today there weren't too many people around. We played a bit on the playground, but mostly he just wanted to run along the fence and look out at the water. He was cracking me up because he claimed that he could see giant fish jumping out of the water. Heck, maybe he did. His eyes are ridiculously sharp when compared to mine.

Little Ricky spotted Catalina Island off in the distance

On the upside, I am really starting to get back some of the energy that I lost in the first couple of years of his life. If you've followed me for long, you'll know that I was dead to the world for the first year after he was born. I was just perpetually tired! I knew having a kid takes it out of you - but just didn't appreciate how much. I had a kid many years ago when I was 19, but that was a completely different experience. I was super young and had seemingly boundless energy!

Things are really improving now, though. I can actually run around and play with him without needing to sit down every 5 minutes. Of course getting some good supplements has helped with that as well. I've been taking NAC and Glycine for over a year now which has had a dramatic effect on my energy levels.

Loving his new bike!

As it started to get a bit dark, we headed over to another park down the street where he could try out his new bike. With the training wheels he is taking to it really quickly. It's so weird being a Gen X kid and having to force your child to wear a helmet in today's day and age, but I have to get with the times. Sometimes you have to rethink some of your crazy logic that seemed perfectly sensible to you at another time.

Time are definitely changing, and they are changing very quickly!

That is a really good point. Just because we did it that way as a kid doesn't mean it was the smartest way to do things. Maybe it isn't that later generations got soft and more that the later generations got enlightened. I still think kids get pampered these days though 😃. Helmets are all good though. This looks like a really cool park. I'm glad your energy is up. I've been working out and that helps, but getting up at four in the morning to do it doesn't!

Working out / exercising makes a HUGE difference. I always seem to forget that when I'm not putting in the effort. But that 4am would kill me! 😂

I keep trying to re-evaluate my behaviors and gut reactions to things like the helmet and such. I know that when we grew up we did things a lot differently. Sometimes I don't even understand how I survived. I wonder if I have that 'quantum immortality' thing where I keep getting killed but wake up in an alternate universe where I survived by the skin of my teeth.. omg.. haha

That would definitely be interesting. I have never heard of that before, but it makes sense given what I know about that sort of stuff. Understanding, but that is about it. You'd think I would be more athletic with all the working out I do, but I really am not. I like watching sports though and writing about them with my @bozz.sports account. This middle age Metabolism crap is kicking my butt though. It's like one step forward two steps back!

Yeah, it's hard man.. Haha! Seems like every piece of food is a battle to burn off these day. Back in the day I couldn't keep a pound of weight on.

I can relate to the first part of that, but not the second. I have always been a little chonky if you know what I mean!

I am glad to read that you are actually taking time spent with your son as a priority over anything else. That is what super dads do.

Cheers

I really appreciate that, thanks! I really am trying my best. Sometimes I feel guilty when I watch TV or YouTube while I am sitting in the livingroom with him. But I spend so much time with him out playing and doing all kinds of activities that sometimes I just need to decompress.

First of all, I have missed reading your post so much, you need to see how excited I am reading this.

Having kids isn't the easiest task on earth but it only gets better with time, I am also happy Ricky was able to play around today as no one was there to look at him in some way and make you feel uncomfortable as well.

As for the big fish, maybe he saw one🤣🤣🤣.

Good to hear from you again friend.

Aw, thanks @amiegeoffrey! I keep saying that I'm going to try to post more often, but the time just gets away from me.

As for the big fish, maybe he saw one🤣🤣🤣.

Haha! You never know. I could swear when I was little I could also see all kinds of things no one else saw, like magical creatures. But that's another story.

Children are beautiful and when they see their parents they become more excited and love to spend time with them.If you have ever noticed, there are a lot of happy movements in their small activities and we are very happy to see them.

I love the way that my little boy sees and interprets the world. There is something very pure and innocent about it. Often I wish that I could be as free as that! Thanks for commenting.

It's so wonderful reading from you. One thing I'm sure of in all this is that you're an excellent and thoughtful dad.

And I think I would have had the same expression of confusion on my face at that dad, because what do you mean a kid was up in a fellow kid's business? I honestly wouldn't have known what to feel.

No matter the change, I'm positive that you'll do just fine.

I must say, it is very rare that I have to deal with an annoying parent. Most people are very understanding about other kids' behavior. I think the only time people act crazy is when they have an extra calm child themselves, and don't realize that a lot of kids are nuts. lol!

Becoming a parent comes with plenty of responsibilities that one is one aware when the moment happens, but the joy is real and with the passage of time turns into a good excuse to make time to enjoy little things and get out the house more often :)

I've been trying really hard to make sure that we go out to play at least a little bit every day. I've basically been a 'stay at home dad' since he was born. Believe me, I would never say a stay at home mom doesn't have a job. This is harder than any job I've ever had.

Nice to see you enjoying a sunny day out. Isn't that what life should be about?

The boy is growing better and stronger. I love that.
Thanks for being a great dad😊

Thanks! He is a very strong kid. But in a lot of ways he is like a wild animal. He definitely keeps me on my toes!

It is the hardest yet most rewarding thing ever, for sure. It definitely isn't always fun and games but the rewards are amazing.

Wow! I don’t have a kid but I read you and I felt a little bit scared, lol. Anyway if when you was 19 everything was easier, I still have some hope. Very nice pictures, it was a very beautiful day!

Yeah, I have come to realize that the main difference between being 19 and my current age is that you tend to get less active as you get older. That is the real reason that you slow down. I think it's really important to keep using your body or you really will get tired. You know what they say, 'use it or lose it!'

Nothing is more true.

Kids are the most naughty and cute creation on earth. Having a son comes up with a lot of responsibilities. Little Ricky seems enjoying the trip. Take care of him. Have a nice day Bro.

Thanks man! It is quite a paradox isn't it. They can be simultaneously the sweetest things ever and also the most demonic. haha!

What a beautiful place to spend the day. You are creating incredible memories with your son. I have memories like this with my dad. He is 82 now and we still go on adventures on the water …. 🌊 … along with my son who turned 19 this summer….here we are together … paddling on Lake Superior. 🇨🇦

That is so cool! By dad is in his 70s still but also loves being out on the water. It kind of sucks though, because he lives in Ohio and I am in California. Makes it hard to hang out. I just hope that my son gets a chance to spend time with him.

We have to travel about 10 hours across Ontario every summer for my kids to visit their grandparents… it’s worth the long drive.

It's great to hear that you're regaining your energy and feeling more active as your child grows older. Parenting can indeed be exhausting, especially in the early years, but it's wonderful to see the positive changes as they become more independent. It's also interesting to hear that supplements like NAC and Glycine have been beneficial for you. It's essential to take care of your well-being as a parent too!

I started getting really interested in learning about what causes the body to slow down as we age, and one of the things that I discovered was that in your mid 40s, glutathione (an antioxidant that is used all over the body) gets depleted. Especially with stress and anxiety. NAC and Glycine gives your liver the ability to replenish it. It has made a massive difference in my life! Thanks for reading.
