The ROI of my STEEM/HIVE journey

With only about 1/3 of my power downs left, for both my STEEM and HIVE accounts, my curiosity had me bringing up my phone's calculator and doing some ruff calculations. The result have been surprising.

The surprise came mostly because my Minnowhood was purchased when STEEM was something like $2 and my Dolphinhood was purchased somewhat premature of STEEM's bottom. Both trades were done with the BTC-STEEM pairing. The thing not considered in my thinking was that when my trade for took place, for my Dolphinhood, that BTC was valued at something like $3000 USD. So trading back into BTC (and some XMR) has really helped ROI with today's BTC value of $9000+. Of course there was also the nice doubling of my DPoS token holdings with the HIVE fork.

My trades into STEEM were never done with investment in mind, but simply mirrored a greater commitment to the community which had touched me deeply.

Crypto accounting is complicated yet with the inflationary rewards while a Dolphin, all in all, it looks like my time on the DPoS chains has proven profitable. Nothing mind boggling yet it is nice to see it did not cost me anything other than the upsetting emotions of seeing a wonderful community torn asunder through greed and vindictiveness.

They say you can't make an omelette without breaking eggs so let's hope @openorchard will get DPoS governance right next time round, as the HIVE/STEEM chains' governance seems broken beyond repair.
