RANDOM THOUGHTS: WHY NOT ABUNDANCE?

The transatlantic slave trade between the 16th and 19th centuries led to the massive exploitation of the human resources of the African continent. However, the descendants of these slaves are asked to avoid speaking about their history.

The slave trade was followed by colonization which also saw the gross exploitation of the human and natural resources of the African continent. Traces of this supposed parasitic relationship still exist in the semblance of neo-colonization.

There is also the brain drain occurring currently in different parts of Africa, as most of the best minds are migrating to the west. There is an endless number of policies, treaties that are rendering the African continent useless.

Now African countries are being required to explore renewable forms of energy which they cannot afford due to their lack of capital and technology. It is a known fact that fossil fuel was at the heart of the industrial age in which massive wealth and opportunities came to the west. However, African countries have been required to slow down their development to save the planet.

I am not here to point fingers. I simply want to establish a fact, which is: the rich destroy and pillage, while the poor build. It has always been that way since the earliest civilization. While the rich and powerful enjoy a life of luxury, the poor are meant to sacrifice their lives for scraps.

NO MORE SACRIFICES

When I do hear people speak about delayed gratification I often get offended because the supposed 1% do not in any way sacrifice or delay their luxury. On the contrary, they deny other people their luxury through pillaging, brainwashing, etc

Now tell me, who gets tax cuts and bailouts when they tumble the economy on its head? Who loses the value of their savings and investments and has to fend for themselves when things go out? Certainly not the same category of persons. The system is rigged to favour a few.

The rich are not necessarily smart. They just know how to work the system, or better put, the system knows how to work for them. So you can be prudent as you want, and they can be as reckless as they want, but not much will change.

So I want to know why anyone who defends that you sacrifice a portion of your life to enjoy another part of it. It sounds absurd to me, but I won't deny that it works to a certain degree and that’s because of the systems at work. Who is making all these rules and why do we have to abide by them?

WHY NOT ABUNDANCE?

How about we try abundance? How about everyone lives a full and purposeful life without waste. Ironically, most people equate the most necessities of life to waste, which often leads to resentment of other people who choose to live the life they’ve forgone and their only solace is an uncertain future.

I believe there will come a time when people will be free to live the life they want without making unnecessary sacrifices and justifying those sacrifices. I believe there will come a time when people can give without denying themselves the things they want and need.

I believe in a world of abundance, not scarcity.

I also believe that day'll come. I'll air my opinion though. Hehe.

The rich were not always rich. If we talk about systems, they were just smart (or cunny) enough to bend it and take advantage of opportunities which made them. They took great risks which the other side couldn't. Secondly, taking Nigeria as an example, the poor or minorities won't be exploited if they'd just open their eyes and refuse to be swayed by temporary things. They are only victims cos they want to.

If abundance is to be made, the lesser ones need thorough education and a new mindset that not all is "scam". Lol...

Most times those opportunities are not earned, they are stolen. So what would you do, blame the thief or the victim or just ignore?

What happened during the EndSars protest when citizens decided to fight for their rights?

Systemic problems are not solved by becoming aware but through the change and reform of institutions of power. When these spaces are occupied by callous people who do not play by the rules as you do and are willing to explore any means possible to achieve their objective, what do you do?

That was why i used the word cunny. In these cases there is little to no medic. If we take the business world for example, a lot of shitty things going on there...

What happened during the EndSars protest when citizens decided to fight for their rights?

That was inevitable. Sooner or later it was bound to happen. Apparently, that might be the only sector of acknowledgement for most Nigerians and it took the shedding of blood to make it important...

The thing is, who isn't callous? Mind you, these people are just ants as far as the other world countries are concerned but still, those people utilize whatever they get. Try telling an igbo business man about Crypto, you're immediately called a scammer. It's worse here up north. In fact, in my opinion, you can di nothing about people unwilling to learn. Something struck me the other day. Someone made a post and i quote...
"Talk about politics and how to make Nigeria grow, you'll get about 600 listeners among the youths, but bring up a moaning competition and there are over 6,000 of them."
I stopped looking at these "men" in power and started focusing on myself. Just imagine, if 20% of the youths today would stand and decide to actually be interested in their country, those men wouldn't be there... Fear is how they rule and i must say that most of us have become to cowardly and totally disinterested to actually make a statement.

Are you going to play dirty because it is the norm?

The aforementioned problems are not particular to Nigeria. Thus they cannot be the reason why the country is in the state it is currently. There are other corrupt nations, with disinterested youths that are thriving nevertheless. So it all goes back to the issue raised in the post: the problem is systemic. It is hard to change when it favors a few. The price for change is far too costly, even you aren't willing to pay.

The thing is, who isn't callous?

Not everyone I assure you.

Just imagine, if 20% of the youths today would stand and decide to actually be interested in their country, those men wouldn't be there...

I beg to differ. The problem isn't the people but the system. If people fight without justice, of what use is it? A doctor in an under-equipped hospital cannot function at his best. The system, the system. That is the issue.

Which is why i said... The system wouldn't change at all. Not unless new interest is borne in the minds of capable people. Just imagine this, what if like Kate Henshaw said, most of us get really engrossed or interested in the constitution of the country? Like, what if we stop running away from politics and for once stick our head out there? Would those men still be there? The answer is no. The system is only the way it is, not because these men are actually there but because we literally hand them power. Yes, they play dirty, but for how long?

Also, even with this dirty and unforgiving system, there are still white lines. It is very small indeed yes, but it is better than most. There are many people here in Nigeria who see what's going on (the elite or rich or capable people) and they have decided to make changes but do they have willing people? No. No one wants their neck out there and still no one wants to live in the world they created.

I beg to disagree. The poor do not build, it's the reason they remain poor. If they build, certainly, the things they build will generate life sources for a better livelihood in the future.

The Rich are not to be blame for seeking escape from the struggles of life. They do not want that life of wants, needs, and lack. They want the abundance too.

So they do all that they can to make sure the economy is in their favor.

I do not think we should point fingers, life is a game, we should look for ways to outsmart the other party and win, if we want to win, while following the rules of the game.

For money, the rules are simple, earn money, keep a certain percentage you can afford to do without, grow that percentage, use it to make more money, increase your capacity to earn.

Once it has grown to a certain level, look into getting a place to call home, and make provisions for your children to live upon your wealth if you ever leave earth.

All of these plans, you do them consciously with the help of the Almighty.

The day we stop apportioning blames for our life's choices, there will be massive change in our lives.

I beg to disagree. The poor do not build, it's the reason they remain poor.

Who was behind the building of the first civilization?

Who made up the workforce during the industrial age that brought wealth to Europe?

Have you read about the French Revolution?

Do you know Rockefeller? And his role in the oil industry in America?

Do you know the history of Nigeria? Which company sold Nigeria to the British?

Do you know the role of Shell in the pollution of the Niger Delta?

Do you know about France's relationship with its former colonies?

Do you know about the stolen artifacts from most African kingdoms and how those who stole them are still profiting from them today?

For the money, the rules are simple, earn money, keep a certain percentage you can afford to do without, grow that percentage, use it to make more money, increase your capacity to earn.

You cannot save your way out of a dysfunctional society operating on a corrupt system. It haunts the poor and the rich eventually. Being rich doesn't make you immune to ills of the society. It might make you blind to the problem.

Hello sir, I hope that you will read this post, Make No Mistake, This is a Revolution by @tarazkp, it will give you the answers you need. Especially this point 👇👇

the ones that are really going to make the difference will be those who take to themselves off the streets and onto the blockchains and decentralized environments to find new ways to generate wealth, that doesn't require giving the majority of it to the top 0.1%.

I don't think fighting the system is the answer for any individual. What everyone should do is take it upon themselves to join the revolution of finding new ways to generate wealth. We are lucky cryptocurrency is one of the ways we can do that.

  1. Money is a thing not everything.

For instance, being wealthy doesn't stop you from getting harrassed by the police, or dying from lack of proper healthcare in emergency situations (as we saw during the pandemic)

  1. The crypto is not void of corruption.

Some will argue that BTC has been hijacked by big corporations like Microstrategy and Tesla, who use their flawed fiat to buy into the seemingly perfect cryptocurrency. At the end of the day it's a game for the deep pockets. The only gain here is to be an early adopter

  1. You cannot opt out of the system (without a price).

You seem not to get my point still, which is that problem is the system and not necessarily the people. For instance, hive have had to make several upgrades to its code (system) to get us to the point we are here today. If we had kept on blaming the whales (who will always protect their interest) or opted to leaving (like most people did) we won't have hive today.

People want money to be free and not freedom for money. Wealth and freedom aren't synonymous ( Atleast the Chinese have proven that with the witch hunt of capitalist-pro-chinese billionaires like Jack Ma).

What part of your life isn't controlled by the 1% or those who control the 1%?

Being in this crypto sphere has given me an avenue to create wealth for myself. However, I still have to deal some of the realities of living in a dysfunctional society like terrorism, corruption, insecurity, police harrasment etc. How does Blockchain solve those problems for me? Or do you think money magically solves all these problem? Or do you think addressing these system and those enforcing them aren't important enough than your and my personal gains?

When we drop our phones and stop gazing at wallets and bank accounts, there is a world out there that needs fixing. Crypto unfortunately cannot be the one-size-fit-all solution.

The author you quoted is great at what he does but your realities are not the same. And lastly I also strongly believe in taking responsibility of one's life but that's just one out of the many things we need to get right individually and collectively to make the world a better place.

What do you think we should do for a change?

We need to hold those in power accountable. We need to fight for our rights and freedom. That's how we were able to abolish so many societal ills like slave. If our forefathers did not resist, demonstrate, protest, lobby, Etc chances are that we will still have a world where black people are suppressed and marginalise. We as as people have our freedom today not because people became more empathetic or intellectual, but because we fought for it--our people fought for it.

You are not going to get anything off the table if you don't fight for it. That's why you come on a platform like this and do your very best because no one will give you a chance if you don't.

Also we need to educate and empower ourselves, which is what crypto is doing for us. Crypto does not segregate.
