How do people actually use Ethereum.

It's a terrible experience.

Ethereum is the anti Hive.

  • Slow.
  • Expensive.
  • Unusable.
  • Unfriendly.
  • Unreadable.

I have tried my best to avoid it for the past four years but every so often you need to make a transaction with it and then the pain starts.

And yet people keep building projects onto it and expecting them to be successful.

It has the people but not the tools to actually make it work. Luckily a lot of the layer two solutions are making life easier but then i need to use it and the pain starts again.

Today is one of those days.

I was looking through my metamask tidying up my tokens and old assets to try and find some matic that had been misplaced. It should have been on the polygon network but binance withdrew it to the ethereum network instead.

Now i need to get it back to a normal network and make use of the tokens.

While i was there i found some Koinos as well that i had forgotten about. As that has no use to me it is time to swap it for something useful and put it to work.

In total there is about $500 of tokens on my account but there is a very small problem.

Or the biggest problem as far as Ethereum is concerned.

Gas fees.

The curse of Ethereum.

The first thing that i wanted to do was to swap Koinos for a popular token that can be found on multiple chains.

That cost me $7 to swap $400 and unfortunately all of the Eth that was in my wallet in one go. It was a bit silly of me to not pay attention to my balances but in fairness i am used to transactions that cost cents not dollars.

Now i need to swap other funds from Binance smart chain to Ethereum to pay the gas fees required to move funds from Ethereum to binance smart chain and polygon.

There is so much comfort to using hive that it's not even funny.

If people woke up and started building applications on a zero fee chain they wouldn't know what to do with all of their extra time and money since they wouldn't be wasting all of it on Ethereum and killing the users.

I will get all of my funds off Ethereum eventually but it is such a pain every time that i am forced to use it.

We really are spoiled on Hive and it only shows when we venture off the the more popular chains.

Relatable. Can't avoid Ethereum 😑 It sucks because of the GAS Fees alone. I am okay to wait for my transactions but not ready to pay so high.

I've managed to avoid it for at least a year but unfortunately i had to take the hit and get my money onto matic. There was no cheap way around it but at least im free and earning on polycub.

I have been around since the actual beginning of btc and I have still never used or owned any Eth. I have always thought it was useless. Great idea, poor execution.

Bitshares is a better base tech a million times over.

I owned a few eth from the early days but sold them as fast as possible when it broke 2k for my most hated of cryptos.

I was delighted to take the profit and pump it into projects that i actually want to use and to hold.

Your one of the smart ones to avoid it altogether.

ETH is one of my most favorite crypto currency or coin. Once I had good amount of ETH in my coinbase wallet and when it pumped last year, I sold out them and get benefits. Your points are reasonable and I agree with them.

It's more for the big buck transfers now of $500+ besides that I never use it and honestly hold and stock at the moment so I can run a ETH node!

It's definitely not the peoples blockchain anyway.

whatever the future holds for it but there is no point in building games or applications on the chain with all of the new cheaper and faster options out there.

I don't use ETH due to the gas fees but I think you might have been lucky that it was only $7 that you had to pay. I recall hearing hundreds of dollars in gas fees in the past so I guess there are less people using it now.

It's painful to use it.
If i had a lot of transactions to complete it would have costs hundreds.

Such a waste of funds when you look at chains like hive or matic that are almost free.

I don't know why people build projects on eth when it's unusable for most people.

Eth is not for the small fish.

Or even the mediuum ones i would say.

I'm happy to take my few dollars and move away form eth entirely.

Over to cosmos, bsc and matic for future transactions. It's a better place for the likes of me and the other small fish.

Leave eth to the big boys.
