Lost Friend (5) : A Freewrite
One gloomy morning, as the fog enshrouded the trenches, an almighty detonation reverberated through the earth. Everywhere around them descended into bedlam as dust and fragments poured down. Brandy and Memphis were tossed to the ground, their eardrums ringing from the explosion.
Gasping for breath, they clambered to their feet. The trench that had been so well-known had transformed into a ruinous landscape. Their brothers-in-arms were either injured or dead, and the pungent smell of detonations saturated the atmosphere.
"Brandy!" Memphis bellowed, his voice thick with apprehension. He hurriedly combed through the wreckage, his heart throbbing with dread.

Amidst the debris, Memphis spied Brandy, his form battered and stained with blood yet amazingly still alive. He rushed to his friend's side, the tears steadily rising in his eyes as he beheld the severity of Brandy's wounds. Brandy's features were warped with suffering, yet he managed to force a frail smile.
