Win Some, Lose Some

My bad luck or failure in Real Estate which has put me homeless and subject to the mercy of rental inflation is an example of bad timing to add to a long list losses on financial/economic decisions in my lifetime. It has always put the pressure on my diligence process over time and although I believe I improve with each iteration, I continue to acknowledge the “paying for mistakes” thought.

In the past couple of years, I made another significant bet which I could at least put on my “wins” column. It has been over two years since we leased our Tesla as the main car for the house. Not only that, but we also decided to sell out other car which was powered by fuel. This past year, our family has not been to a gas station to pump fuel and given the prices I am currently seeing, I can definitely see the benefits.

Tesla is so unique and innovative and while it may have some issues with quality and service, I think it is clearly the leader in electric vehicles in the world. They love to provide their community with data and a recent app update now provides us a view of our costs for mileage. After inputting local rates, it tracks your costs over time. As you can see, I barely spend on mileage given my choice to move to an EV. The fact that charging stations are becoming more available is only adding to the long term benefit of EVs. Definitely a win for me (and the world)!
