Vision

During my recent travels, I came across a view that made me reflect about vision and how amazing it could be through hindsight. It immediately got me reflecting about what I believe is my vision for the potential of Blockchain and the ecosystem I engaged in every day for my financial freedom. Seeing how things come into fruition with patience and grit is truly key in anything we do as they never come without challenge. This brings the current challenging market into perspective considering it is not the first time we experience it.

The picture above represents a view from the Bull Fighting Ring (Plaza de Toros) in Colonia, Uruguay. It was commissioned and built over 100 years ago as the Spanish gained influence in the region. The view from the top show a long road from the structure straight to the coast where a long dock would stand to welcome visitors to the complex which included a resort when built. It does not seem like much but when seeing a picture at the now museum, it was a dirt path with no view of green when originally built. However, the developers planted trees many years ago to see what we see today.

What makes the story more interesting is that the project was not really a success as the sport of bull fighting quickly became outlawed after a Matador lost his life. However, the vision of planting the trees demonstrates that ideas persist and persevere through time. Even the docks did not survive as they were built not planted. This metaphor can tell us the importance of strong foundations or roots like trees. Over a 100 years ago, you could not think about how this path would have look like and its benefits; but they did it anyways for our benefits today.

I relate to this as many visionaries continue planting their seeds today. Some fail, as we have recently seen; but I believe each failure becomes the starting point for another potential winner. We are seeing this in Crypto today for year another bear market or Crypto Winter and while many will fail, other will continue building to unlock the value of the potential of the technology. I truly believe this to be the case which is why I continue to engage with many projects. Vision is necessary for changes that will change the world and Blockchain may be the next one!
