The unplanned lavender wip

pinterest steemit titelbild(55).jpg

It’s Monday: I had one week to try out tiny habits, nibble on an imprisoned wip, and then write a glorious blogpost about my success. Only that did not happen. Ok, the week happened I did not learn spontaneously to time-travel, but the rest, the rest did not happen. No habits, no dungeon wips, no nothing.

Grumble

But these kind of weeks exist and one has to cope with them. It was a mix of a lot of headaches days and deadline-text-writing for work. The combination is a disaster: while having headaches I either try to work which results in more headaches or I don’t then I stress out because the work does not get done. Thankfully today I am better and also thankfully I got the texts written (although I have no feedback if they were ok 😱), but there was no room for experimenting with BJ Foggs behavior model. And honestly there also was no room to concentrate on difficult wips which are banned in dark boxes because I stumbled about fit issues, technical problems, missing yarn or so.
The only thing I could do while having too many headaches to concentrate on working was knitting on my top-down raglan cardigan. One of the many wips which I started in the last months instead of finishing something :-D

20220718_080137082_iOS.jpg creative chaos with knitting - a minute later I cleaned everyting as I hate an untidy desk

Last week we discussed in some comments if it’s nicer to make new things or to repeat older designs and I was the one in favor of the tried and trusted patterns. And that’s why. The top-down raglan cardigan is a design I know by heart. I know roughly how it will fit, I know how the construction is done, there is no lace part which needs concentration or tangling threads for colorwork. It’s a lot of plain stockinette with some easy increases.

Design ohne Titel(140).jpgleft photo was my starting point, the right and middle photos I made today

The only taxing part of this cardigan is the ribbing, not because it’s complicated, but because the kind of stitches is harder on my fingers (but I love the finished appearance… for the knitters; row 1: k1, p1 and row 2: knit all stitches). And this easy well-known pattern was all I could do last week. But on the upside, I could do something instead of just having headaches and feeling sad about myself (I may have done this too 😱)

So, this is my meagre needleworkmonday #wip challenge post. Technically speaking I worked on a wip, but in truth it’s not one of the wips I really want to tackle. I guess in @jonalyn2020 categories it’s sub-level 1.

After taking the photos of my progress on the cardi I searched for the lavender yarn I need for the second sleeve and the buttonband and neckline and: tada 🎉 (beware irony) I fear this cardigan will level up soon, as I only have two balls of yarn left. As always, I did not bought it regularly but got it on eBay and I am not sure if I could get more if I need too. Because of this, the cardigan could transform into a dungeon wip (read more next week :-DDDDDD)

Oh no, I wish you could find more balls of that beautiful yarn.
Your Cardigan is coming along quite nicely. Better to play it safe 😉

Good luck ☘️

At first I hope that this two balls will be miraculously be enough for the second sleeve and the buttonband ... But if not I fear I have to get creative with a different yarn.
Thank you for the well wishes 💕

One of the phrases I learned in one of my many trips :-p is 'doing little is better than doing nothing'. Unconsciously I surround myself with phrases that make me feel productive, maybe it will work for you too. Another could be 'small steps forward get you far from where you were at first'. Ok, I think I could write a self help and motivation book :-p

This cardigan looks beautiful, its color is great and it will give a great result.

For my part, now I think I'm already a week late for a walk in a nice but isolated house in the mountains, so next Monday I'll have double work 😅.

Yes, yes, please write a self-help book, this would be so cool (and I think a good plan to become rich fast. Self-help books seem to be always in fashion)
And with the cardigan. I love the yarn and its color too. I am not completely sure it will look good on me as I am so pale. But we will see (if I ever finish it)🤪
Isolated Mountain house?! That sounds simultaneously wonderful and ominous. Like the beginning of a series... you know could either be a crime, fantasy or a romantic series 😆

I hope this too... maybe the yarn will suffice, I am still hopeful :-D To be honest my dungeon is very stuffed already, not sure I could get another project into it. So, pleaseeeeeeee let the yarn be enough :-D

This yarn is so pretty with the specks of color pop! I love how soft the cardi looks. I’m glad you were able to recover from your headaches and at the same time still manage to get a wip going.

I am rooting for more yarn so that this project does not get left behind in the project box of see you in another life. 😄

It was not my week... to be honest. But am glad too I got some things done (exactly now I got the feedback for the texts and they are ok 🎉 I do not have to change them)
And with the cardigan, I also loooooove the yarn, but am no longer sure it looks good on me, because I am so pale. But nevertheless I will finish it (says I, knowing I have written such things too often without doing it 😱)
I already went to eBay to search if I could purchase it in case of emergency

I would need to buy it from the UK and the price is absurdly high (with postage). So lets hope I can finish the cardigan with the yarn I have at home

Oh great, so glad you don’t have to change them!

Oh yikes! Yes let’s hope you have all the yarn you need since it’s quite expensive. I understand what you mean about being pale and the color of the yarn because I too have pale skin and have to watch the colors I wear to not looked washed out. However, I’m sure it will look great on you though! From what I already seen I love it.

That a beautiful chaos there, your desk is colorful and am wondering how you get to touch a bit of every work from art to sewing, crotchet and all.

That's a lot of work and the anxiety of meeting targets all enough to add more headaches.

Am glad that despite the challenges and hard part of taxing part of the cardigan, you didn't stay idle, a lovely cardigan came out of those lovely colored yarn.
The color is a neutral one just something I like so much, I do not usually appreciate a deep or light color. Something around this yarns color is perfect.

Pleasepleasepleaseplease do not throw this in a dungeon, they are just so lovely, think of improvising, maybe a different yarn color for the sleeve.
Something from what looks like the colored dots on the yarn.
A plain color as such will sit well for both sleeves....

I hope that someday I will storm your country and wardrobe to steal some beautiful crotchet work.

The desk is already cleaned :-DDD I can only stand the "creative chaos" for a photo, but for working its not helpful (moreover... some of these paints are poisonous so a clean desk is important)
And yes targets and illness do not pair well (I hope you are still feeling better), annoyingly I am again with this shi*** headaches and have another deadline on Sunday. I could go on whining but its does not help...
And with the cardigan... so far I convinced myself the yarn will be enough (😆) But if not... I think you are right I could use a different color for the buttonband, but I had some ideas how to wear it and if the carding is in one color its easier to pair with other garments.
Perhaps when I am better I will again search for the yarn if I can buy it for a reasonable price (on eBay its crazy expensive, no idea why)
ANd with the crochet/knitting.... I would love to share ... or you have to start knitting yourself (not sure if you already now how?)

I was delighted with those yarns that you show us and see them in the blouse is magical, my respects to those who knit on two needles, are many stitches for me. I hope you sell all your works, they are great, I'm sure someone will fall in love with them.

Ohhhh I am blushing over this compliment 😍 Sadly in Germany its not sustainable to sell handmade goods. You would not get the price of the yarn back. Here clothes are crazy cheap (and farbic and yarn ist expensive). For example you can buy a pair of handknitted socks for 12 € (often times even cheaper) and the yarn for the socks alone would cost you from 9€ upwards, so you get 3€ for several hours of work… People sell handmade things here mostly for charity, as a hobby. Crafts are not valued much here.
But I would love to see you picking up knitting. I found it hard too at first, but eventually it will get easier and ist so versatile for garments.

That cardigan of yours looks amazing and that you labeled it in sub-level 1. 😅 Love the colors of the yarn, and hoping that it will cover the other sleeve, or else.... No I wanted to see it finished. 😁🥰 you can do it @neumannsalva.

Sometimes if I have a lesser amount of yarn for a project, and there's no stocks left in the shop, but I have this urge to continue it, makes me think of using different stitches that will consume less yarn.

God bless you @neumannsalva..🥰

I looove your Level idea :-D And honestly I nearly did something bad, instead of going on with this sub-Level 1 wip, I wanted to cast on something new (I blame the headaches.... I just wanted to knit straight on without thinking about yarn substitution)
And the idea with the stitches, I never had this idea, so clever!!! I guess this is a wonderful idea if you notice that the yarn will not be enough early on. Now I am too stubborn to unravel the sleeve to use a different stitch (lets hope the yarn is enough ... pleaaaaseee)
Sending hugs

Yeah I'm also thinking that unraveling the other sleeve and testing for another stitch will take another time. How about using another color of yarn with the same type of fiber?

But I don't know if it will look okay the way I did to one of my wip (the mixed colored yarn and black sexy croptop that is meant to be a dress). Anyway, I only wish that the yarn will be enough for the other sleeve. 🥰
