Entrance to the park

The Rifle Range Park was opened recently. There used to be a rifle range in the area where soldiers practice their shooting. That’s where the name of the park came from.

One day last week, the sun was out and I thought it would be a good day to have a look at the new park.

The site of the park was once a granite quarry. In the 1990s, our government stopped all granite quarry activities. The quarry was backfilled to collect rainwater, and a fresh water wetland ecosystem was created to improve water quality and provide habitats for wildlife. Recently, they developed this disused quarry into a park.

It was my first visit to the new park. It is not a very big park. However, there is a trail that connects to the edge of a reservoir in the distant. I will explore that trail when I go back to the park again. Since it was my visit, I just wanted to see what’s in the park, if there was anything of particular interest.

Unfortunately, although the sun was out and the weather was fine when I started out, dark clouds appeared as I reached the park and there were occasional droplets of rain. I knew rain wouldn’t be far away. I quickened my steps and had a quick tour of the park.

When I saw more dark clouds coming in, I knew rain was inevitable. I had to head back, unless I wanted to get rained on. And, it was just as well. It started raining as I reached the entrance and shelter.

Despite it being a hurried visit because of the rain, it was still an enjoyable visit. I was surprised that there were quite a few visitors to the park that day, even though the park is very new.

I will definitely be back to visit the park and to explore the trail to the reservoir. Meanwhile, here are some photos of the place.

On the bridge looking down at a canopy of trees.

I like these stone seats

I guess this must be where the quarry used to be.

This is the lookout point.

They call this lipstick palm.

Tiger orchid plant

A small section of the path which could proof difficult for the seniors.

Arriving at the lookout point.

Views from the lookout point.

It was bright in the distance. But in the park, dark clouds are coming in.

Hi there, @netizen01. 😃 Rifle Range Park is a cool place filled with lovely green vegetation. Lipstick palm? Haha. Do they allow visitors to relax somewhere?

Too bad the rain did not let you explore the park properly. These pictures are nice. Thanks for sharing.

Hello @ladytitan Thank you for stopping by again.

Yes, there is a place where visitors can take a rest and refresh themselves or use the facilities if needed. But I was trying to leave before it rained, so I didn't go there. Next time!. 😊
