Why Football Jersey/Shirt got logo of a sponsor at the front?

How's it going? It's NEO here :)

I haven't got any football jersey for a very long time. Prefer NBA, I am a Kobe Bryant fan since 1997, also Shaq and Jordan and that type of jerseys I've got. Today I've received my FC Barcelona Jersey due that I am polish and fan of Robert Lewandowski. And something catch my attention... Why there is logo of sponsor at the front? I mean I knew that there is but question arrived in my head this morning when I've seen it and realized that NBA ones don't have a huge sponsor logo at the front, it is a name of the team like Lakers, Bulls or Orlando, sponsor things are usually small like. What kind of sponsor barcelona got at the moment you can check by yourself. I mean obviously it is about a money and I called it "free advertisement" and you even paid for it when you bought a jersey so it is like a scam ;)

The biggest question is why football jerseys got a sponsor logo at the front and basketball ones don't? Anyone? I mean I can google it but I would like to know yours opinion.
