A few years ago when I was a medical visitor, I visited some countries in Europe including France.

The company I worked for rewarded all their employees every two years, so to speak, by giving a trip to all their staff. When I say all its staff, I mean ALL of them, from the cleaning staff, visitors, medical advisors, administrative staff, management, etc.

There were over 300 of us on those trips. They had great coordination. There were groups for everything, in these groups there was a leader, and he was responsible for his team.

In that opportunity I had the privilege of going to visit the most visited museum in the world "The Louvre".

The Louvre is located in Paris, the capital of France. This museum houses a collection of wonderful works, which were a compilation made by the French monarchy for several centuries. All these works were private collections, not only of the monarchy, but also of the church and the high aristocracy of the time.

This collection of works was made so that the whole society could enjoy, observe and admire them. These actions were examples for museums in other parts of the world.

I remember it was a Saturday, July 4, 2009, when several buses went to the hotels to pick up all the groups.

I can really tell you that it was an unforgettable trip, my face of amazement when I was in front of all those paintings and sculptures that I had once studied in high school. It seemed like I had gone back in time and I remembered for that moment the teacher who gave me a subject called art back then.

I remember very well when I was in front of one of the most famous works in the museum "La Gioconda" a renaissance painting by Leonardo Da Vinci. This work has been named the most famous work in the world and became even more famous after on August 21, 1911 (the museum was closed), the painting was stolen. And they realized a day later what had happened. After more than 2 years it was recovered on December 10, 1913. This work is currently protected under bulletproof safety glass, to prevent it from being damaged or stolen again.

Another important work or the one that I remembered the most that I had studied at school was the "Venus de Milo" this is a Greek sculpture made of white marble, dating from 130 BC and 100 BC.

The Great Sphinx of Tanis, this Egyptian sculpture was discovered in 1825 in the ruins of an Egyptian temple, and was acquired by the museum in 1826.

Bacco or St. John the Baptist, or also St. John in the desert, is a painting attributed to Leonardo Davinci but other authors indicate that it belongs to Francesco Melzi or Cesare da Cesto.

"Liberty Leading the People" this work was painted by Eugene Delacroix and represents the way in which the Parisian people raise their arms against King Charles X of France. The king intended to suppress the parliament and to censor or restrict the freedom of the press. It is a wonderful work that symbolizes freedom leading the people.

Just as many of these works got my attention that day at the museum, there were also other paintings and sculptures that were our focus. It was an unforgettable walk, traces that remain in our minds forever. If you have the opportunity to visit Paris, no matter how quick the trip, try to visit this beautiful museum.

Visitando París y conociendo El Louvre.

Hace unos años cuando fui visitador médico, visité algunos países de Europa entre los cuales se encontraba Francia.

La empresa para la que trabajé premiaba por decirlo así a todos sus empleados cada dos años, otorgándole un viaje de paseo a todo su personal. Cuando digo a todo su personal, me refiero a TODOS, desde el personal obrero que realizaba la limpieza, visitadores, asesores médicos, personal administrativo, directivo, etc.

Éramos más de 300 personas en esos viajes. Ellos tenían una coordinación genial. Había grupos para todo, en estos grupos había un líder, y éste era responsable de su equipo.

En esa oportunidad tuve el privilegio de ir a conocer el museo más visitado del mundo ”El Louvre”.

El Louvre está ubicado en París, la capital de Francia. Este museo resguarda una colección de maravillosas obras, las cuales fueron una recopilación realizada por la monarquía Francesa durante varios siglos. Todas esas obras eran colecciones privadas, no sólo de la monarquía, sino también de la iglesia y la alta aristocracia de la época.

Esta recopilación de obras se realizó con el fin de que toda la sociedad pudiera disfrutarlas observarlas y admirarlas. Estas acciones fueron ejemplos para museos de otras partes del mundo.

Recuerdo que fue un sábado 4 de Julio de 2009, cuando varios autobuses fueron a los hoteles a recoger a todos los grupos.

Realmente puedo decirles que fue un viaje inolvidable, mi cara de asombro cuando estaba al frente de todos aquellos cuadros y esculturas que una vez había estudiado en bachillerato. Parecía que había retrocedido el tiempo y recordaba para ese momento a la profesora que me dió una materia llamada artística en ese entonces.


Recuerdo muy bien cuando estuve al frente de una de las obras más famosas del museo “La Gioconda” una pintura renacentista de Leonardo Da Vinci. Esta obra ha sido nombrada la más famosa del mundo y se dió a conocer más aún luego de que el 21 de agosto de 1911 (el museo estaba cerrado), la pintura fue robada. Y se dieron cuenta un día después de lo ocurrido. Después de más de 2 años fue recuperada un 10 de diciembre de 1913. Esta obra en la actualidad está protegida bajo vidrios de seguridad antibalas, para evitar que sea dañada o robada nuevamente.

Otra de las obras importantes o la que más recordaba que había estudiado en el colegio fue la “Venus de Milo” ésta es una escultura Griega hecha en mármol blanco, que data de los años 130 a.c y 100 a.c.

La Gran Esfinge de Tanis, ésta escultura egipcia fue descubierta en el año 1825 en las ruinas de un templo Egipcio, y fue adquirida por el museo en el año 1826.

Bacco o San juan Bautista, o también San Juan en el desierto, es una pintura que se le atribuye a Leonardo Davinci pero que otros autores indican que pertenece a Francesco Melzi o a Cesare da Cesto.

“La Libertad Guiando al Pueblo” ésta obra fue pintada por Eugene Delacroix y representa la manera de como el pueblo Parisino levanta sus armas en contra del Rey Carlos X de Francia. El rey pretendía suprimir el parlamento y censurar o restringir la libertad de prensa. Es una obra maravillosa que simboliza la libertad que conduce al pueblo.

Así como muchas de éstas obras lograron mi atención ése día en el museo, también hubo otras pinturas y esculturas que fueron nuestro centro de atención. Fue un paseo inolvidable, huellas que quedan en nuestra mente para siempre. Si tienen la oportunidad de visitar París, por muy rápido que sea el viaje, traten de visitar este bello museo.
