Since the discovery of the WOW signal two theories were handled, the first one indicated that it had been emitted by an extraterrestrial civilization, or that it had been detected by some extraterrestrial waves, and the second one that it had been an interference from a comet or asteroid that by that year was approaching the solar system.

By the end of 2016 and beginning of 2017, the astronomer Antonio Paris tried to prove that this signal had not been extraterrestrial, he kept the theory and tried to explain it scientifically that it had been due to an interference near the telescope, from an asteroid that for that year was passing by the earth, he explained that the cause of the signal had been the reflection of the hydrogen cloud of the comet.

Paris' theory has been dismissed by many experts, and because of this it can be said that the origin of the famous and controversial WOW signal is unknown, what is known is that it has been the only one received on the planet and the strongest in frequency that has stunned all radio astronomers in the universe.

La onda electromagnética ha sido la más fuerte de la historia, duró 72 segundos y el pico de intensidad fue 30 veces más intensa o más fuerte que los sonidos que comúnmente se encuentran en el universo.

Desde el descubrimiento de la señal WOW se manejaban dos teorías, la primera indicaba que había sido emitida por una civilización extraterrestre, o que había sido detectada por algunas ondas extraterrestres, y la segunda que había sido una interferencia de un cometa o asteroide que para ese año se acercaba al sistema solar.

Para finales del año 2016 y principios del año 2017, el astrónomo Antonio Paris trató de demostrar que esta señal no había sido extraterrestre, el mantuvo la teoría y trató de explicarla científicamente de que la misma había sido por una interferencia cercana al telescopio, de un asteroide que para ese año pasaba por la tierra, explicó que el causante de la señal había sido el reflejo de la nube de hidrógeno del cometa.

La teoría de Paris ha sido desestimada por muchos expertos, y debido a esto se puede decir que se desconoce el origen de la famosa y controversial señal WOW, lo que sí se sabe es que ha sido la única recibida en el planeta y la más fuerte en frecuencia que ha dejado atónitos a todos los radioastrónomos del universo.
