Friday, Feathered Friday

It is Feathered Friday. I had little time outside and managed few shots. I will start with the flying goldfinch as a reminder about this week's theme in #SMaP (Show me a photo Contest) - BIRDS IN FLIGHT. Click the link to see the contest post if you haven't done it already.

The goldfinches are numerous around my office. I am welcomed by the choir of birds in the morning and I could hear the greenfinches too. Still not a good photo of them.
The bright day with warm sun rays is really complemented by the bird songs. It is pleasant to spend the break under the trees and watch them little birdies flying above. And to snap a photo or two.

Back from work I had a short walk by the kestrels home, where only the female was there.

This week a couple of kestrels, could be the same or another, were flying and screeching in front of my balcony. They were closer to the other block of flats in front of us, where there is a hole on the wall and the birds seemed to be inspecting it. Like they were looking for a nest. I am not sure if they changed their mind as today and yesterday we did not see them. It would be great to have them so close. I watched a short film about kestrel couple on Youtube. A camera was put inside the nest as well another outside at close distance. The kestrels were attacked by owls, even squirrel was claiming the nest. A jackdaw managed to eat an egg, but against all odds, the kestrel did great job as parents and they had managed to raise their chicks.

When we speak about nests, some birds are busy building new ones, other are just looking for empty ones, like the holes made by the woodpeckers. Somehow I feel it is not fair, as the woodpeckers did all the work and later their nests are occupied by other residents - starlings or tits. Look at these Great tits. They definetely were on a property ladder, looking for a new home and checking the several holes, that we have seen woodies or starlings being there.

And at the end a photo of the hawfinch who
again was perching on a top branch of a tree. It does look grumpy, but it has tender call. I am so glad there are plenty of these birds in our park.

And this is it, my Feathered Friday post.

Have a great weekend and happy birding!

Nice shots @nelinoeva! How I wish I could get those shots too. I was at the National Park near our home... The gease and ducks were flying in front of me, I was shooting them, but I lost the shots when transferring the images to the computer... pity for me, lol!

Thank you very much @mers!
I am so sorry you lost your photos. Once I have deleted some of my photos by mistake and I lost quite a lot, it just happens.

Oh, great photos👍. The great tits turned out very cool, the photo directly conveys that they are busy searching for and building a nest.
