Hive as an Akan Culture
The Hive blockchain is the most decentralized blockchain there is in our current world and it is a leader in the web3 project, so if you should ask me to relate Hive to a culture in our Ghanaian society, the best and most relatable culture that comes to mind is that of the Akans
Why do I say this?
An Extended Family
The Akan group is one of the largest "families" within Ghana, Akan encompasses people from the Ashanti Kingdom, the Bono, The Akuapem, and the Fantes, I don't think I have even covered all however these are what I know. It is one big family that speaks kinda the same language and has so much in common and yet are different individuals with different geographical locations within Ghana.

Twi is the most outspoken language in Ghana and it stems from the Akans, everyone one these individuals speak Twi however in different variations, quite similar to Deutsch and Dutch, and sometimes it is so beautiful to hear these blends. The love between these individuals under one umbrella is just a beauty to behold, they recognize the differences and bridge them with shared values.
This is how I see the Hive Blockchain, such a big umbrella that teaches, loves, cares, and directs all to goodness. We are all from different geographical locations globally and yet under the Hive umbrella we recognize each other and bridge the gap with our ethics and values, supporting one another through good works, projects, etc, touching lives beyond the internet. You are never an alien should you find yourself on the Hive blockchain, just reach out and the warmth you will receive will mesmerize you.
Leadership, Tolerance and Idiosyncrasies
"United we stand, Divided we fall", thus a popular saying that I don't think quoting anyone right now might be right because this saying goes as far back as time itself, perhaps, but there always have to head to lead the pack, there need to be checks and balances in the segregations and authorities under which we find ourselves.
And so when you come to the Akan culture, we have the chiefs who serve as leaders of the communities, from the smallest grouping to the largest umbrella, they adjudicate and help bring peace to the land, and they guide our ways in terms of behavior and guard our hard work and possessions against those that may try to steal from us. They also serve as a bridge between us and our ancestors. This ensures that things continue to run smoothly and that we all feel secure wherever we find ourselves knowing that so long as we are doing right by others we have a stronger foothold and greater support.
Now when you come to the Hive Blockchain, you realize that we have communities with the blockchain and within these communities, there are always leaders who seek to guide our steps, our every way, our every direction lest we falter and perhaps go against the netiquette of the blockchain and find ourselves wanting. And some also oversee these leaders, so the scale goes up as the community goes up, from witnesses serving as checks and balances to community founders and moderators guiding their members to achieving one goal of the community.
There is security, there is a sense of belonging, there is a sense of transparency, there is a sense of care, there is a sense of love, there is support, there is motivation to give one's best at all times so that one may be the very best one can be at all times. Such is how the hive blockchain runs and such is how the Akan culture rolls.
Conclusion
And so from the diversified unity where people from different backgrounds find themselves in a common community sharing their talents with each other, supporting each other in love and kindness, to feeling secure and guided, being loved and having a strong sense of unity and belonging, I can vehemently say that the Akan culture is the closest thing in the Ghanaian culture to relate to the Hive Blockchain.
And I am happy to have found myself here, to be part of this bigger umbrella and the smaller umbrella of being Ghanaian, showcasing my talent to my peers and colleagues, and having the chance to also impact lives with my career choice wherever I find myself. It will always be a pleasure for me and I say thank you so much for this opportunity to share with you all.
The fact that #Hive is seen as an extended family sums it up all. We're diverse but embrace each other. I can't agree with you less.
