Bruno era un niño muy consentido por sus padres, ellos siempre lo habían deseado, por eso intentaban darle siempre lo mejor. Cuando nació Ana, Bruno tenía 4 años, su hermanita trajo mucha felcicidad a la familia, pero con el pasar de los días todo cambio de repente, ya toda la atención la recibía ella y él solo se quedaba en un lado observando.

Bruno was a very spoiled child by his parents, they had always wanted him, so they always tried to give him the best. When Ana was born, Bruno was 4 years old, his little sister brought a lot of happiness to the family, but as the days went by everything suddenly changed, she received all the attention and he just stayed on one side watching.

Al pasar los años Bruno y Ana se convirtieron en unos completos desconocidos que vivían en la misma casa, no se hablaban, no se miraban, no querían tener ningún contacto uno con el otro. Julieta, su mamá se dió cuenta en la adolescencia de estos chicos, que ella fue la que causó está separación entre hermanos y se sintió muy mal. Trató de remediarlo dándole la misma atención a ambos, pero lamentablemente nada dió resultado, su hija se creía superior a su hermano y esto provocaba en él un rechazo total hacia ella.

Un día cuando Bruno ya casi era mayor de edad, Julieta enfermo de gravedad y su esposo se vió obligado a llevarla a otra ciudad, para que recibiera el tratamiento que necesitaba. Antes de irse, las últimas palabras que le dijo Julieta a Bruno fueron ─cuida de tu hermana, ni tú papá ni yo podemos hacerlo por eso te pedimos que no permitas que le suceda nada─ y partieron rumbo a la otra ciudad.

As the years went by, Bruno and Ana became complete strangers living in the same house, they did not speak to each other, they did not look at each other, they did not want to have any contact with each other. Julieta, their mother realized in their adolescence that she was the one who caused this separation between siblings and she felt very bad. She tried to remedy it by giving the same attention to both, but unfortunately nothing worked, her daughter thought she was superior to her brother and this provoked in him a total rejection towards her.

One day when Bruno was almost of age, Julieta became seriously ill and her husband was forced to take her to another city to receive the treatment she needed. Before leaving, Julieta's last words to Bruno were "take care of your sister, neither your father nor I can do it, that's why we ask you not to let anything happen to her" and they left for the other city.

Bruno se quedó pensando en las últimas palabras que le había dicho su madre y se preguntaba ─¿Debería yo cuidarla?─, luego de meditar un buen rato se respondió: ─Está bien lo haré solo por mamá─. Así que Bruno comenzó a cambiar con Ana, le comenzó a hablar, se preocupaba por ella, la llevaba en su auto a la escuela, estaba pendiente de que comiera. Sin embargo, ella no hacía ningún cambio, le contestaba muy mal.

Un día normal como cualquier otro, Bruno llegó de su práctica de fútbol en la tarde y le pareció extraño que Ana no había llegado de la escuela, ─una niña de 13 años no debería de irse a otros lugares sin avisar─ pensó y espero pacientemente a que Ana llegara.

Bruno kept thinking about the last words his mother had said to him and asked himself ─Should I take care of her?─, after meditating for a while he answered himself: "All right, I will do it just for my mother". So Bruno began to change with Ana, he began to talk to her, he worried about her, he took her to school in his car, he made sure she ate. However, she did not make any change, she answered him very badly.

A normal day like any other, Bruno came home from soccer practice in the afternoon and it seemed strange to him that Ana had not arrived from school, "a 13 year old girl should not go to other places without warning" he thought and waited patiently for Ana to arrive.

Se hizo de noche y Ana no había llegado así que Bruno comenzó a llamar a sus compañeros de clase para ver si daba con ella, pero ninguno sabía dónde estaba. ¡Que preocupado estaba Bruno! ─¿qué va a pensar mamá de mí si no la encuentro?─ decía mientras caminaba de un lado a otro. Decidió salir en el automóvil a buscarla, pero cuando ya se iba a dar por vencido, vió un grupo de jóvenes que se encontraban bebiendo fuera de una licorería, eran mucho mayores que Ana, pero allí se encontraba ella bebiendo también.

Bruno se bajó rápidamente del auto para buscar a su hermana y con mucha autoridad le dijo ─¿qué estás haciendo aquí?, no tienes edad para hacer estas cosas, súbete al carro inmediatamente, mamá se va a decepcionar mucho cuando se entere de tu comportamiento─. Estas palabras no le gustaron mucho a uno de los chicos que estaba allí con Ana por lo que se puso de pie y le dió un fuerte golpe en la cara a Bruno. Ese golpe fue tan fuerte que lo hizo caer de espaldas y pegar la cabeza sobre el asfalto provocando en Bruno un desmayo inmediato.

It got dark and Ana hadn't arrived, so Bruno started calling his classmates to see if he could find her, but none of them knew where she was. How worried Bruno was! "what will mom think of me if I don't find her?" he said as he paced back and forth. He decided to go out in the car to look for her, but just as he was about to give up, he saw a group of young people drinking outside a liquor store, they were much older than Ana, but there she was drinking too.

Bruno quickly got out of the car to look for his sister and with a lot of authority told her "what are you doing here, you are not old enough to do these things, get in the car immediately, mom will be very disappointed when she finds out about your behavior". These words did not please one of the boys who was there with Ana, so he stood up and gave Bruno a hard punch in the face. That blow was so strong that it made him fall backwards and hit his head on the asphalt, causing Bruno to faint immediately.

Ana corrió lo más rápido que pudo hacia su hermano, se comenzó a culpar por lo que le había pasado y comenzó a llorar, al ver sangre salir de su cabeza, los chicos que estaban allí llamaron inmediatamente a emergencia y tardó alrededor de 15 minutos en llegar la ambulancia, Ana fue con su hermano para vigilar que no le pasará nada. Cuando llegaron al hospital se lo llevaron rápidamente a hacerle estudios, entre ellos una tomografía que arrojó que tenía un traumatismo craneal, por lo que debían operar de emergencia un coágulo de sangré que tenía en el cerebro, pero necesitaban autorización de los padres.

Ana con mucha vergüenza tuvo que llamar a sus padres y explicarles lo que había ocurrido, quienes al enterarse viajaron lo antes posible y se devolvieron en unas horas, firmaron para que operarán a Bruno quien a pesar de casi perder la vida en la operación logró sobrevivir. Ana estaba desecha, se sentía culpable por lo que provocó, casi pierde la vida su hermano.

Ana ran as fast as she could to her brother, she began to blame herself for what had happened to him and started to cry, when she saw blood coming out of his head, the guys who were there immediately called the emergency and it took about 15 minutes for the ambulance to arrive, Ana went with her brother to make sure nothing would happen to him. When they arrived at the hospital they quickly took him to the hospital for tests, among them a tomography that showed that he had a cranial traumatism, so they had to operate on an emergency a bleeding clot that he had in his brain, but they needed authorization from the parents.

Ana was very embarrassed and had to call her parents and explain to them what had happened. When they found out, they traveled as soon as possible and returned in a few hours, they signed for Bruno to be operated on, and despite almost losing his life in the operation, he managed to survive. Ana was devastated, she felt guilty for what she had caused, she almost lost her brother's life.

Sus padres la castigaron y Julieta le dijo ─las cosas van a cambiar por aquí, el amor que te dimos fue mucho y te volviste egoísta, espero que Bruno nos perdone por haberlo descuidado, perdonanos tu también por él daño que te hicimos sin darnos cuenta─. Ana al escuchar las palabras de su madre se sintió mal, se dió cuenta que sus padres todo se lo daban a ella y a Bruno no le prestaban atención.

Dos días despues, ya Bruno estaba mejor y Ana entro a verlo y dijo ─perdóname, por mi culpa casi pierdes la vida y solo me estabas cuidando─. Bruno la perdono y le dijo ─eres mi hermanita pequeña, daría mi vida con tal de que estés bien─. Ana le regaló una gran sonrisa.

Pasaron los días y todo volvió a la normalidad, sus padres volvieron a irse porque debían completar el tratamiento de quimioterapia de Julieta así que de nuevo quedaron ellos dos solos. Ana comenzó a actuar muy extraño, ya no salía de su habitación, dejó de ir a la escuela, a veces comía una vez al día y cuando veía la cicatriz de Bruno rompía en llanto.

Bruno ya no sabía que hacer, su hermana se podía enfermar y sus padres no podían lidiar con otro problema. Tocó la puerta de la habitación de su hermana y ella dijo ─pase─, él le dijo ─me tienes muy preocupado, ya no comes ya no sales, te vas a enfermar, tienes que saber que yo olvidé todo lo que pasó, te perdoné y ahora te quiero mucho más que antes. Recuerdo cuando eras una bebé y te tenía en mis brazos y te susurré al oído que te protegería, aunque no estaba cumpliendo mi promesa, siempre recordaba que te tenía que proteger incluso de tí misma─. Ana estaba sorprendida y de su rostro brotaron lagrimas.

Her parents punished her and Julieta told her ─things are going to change around here, the love we gave you was too much and you became selfish, I hope Bruno forgives us for neglecting him, you also forgive us for the damage we did to you without realizing it─. Ana felt bad when she heard her mother's words, she realized that her parents gave everything to her and didn't pay attention to Bruno.

Two days later, Bruno was better and Ana came in to see him and said "forgive me, because of me you almost lost your life and you were only taking care of me". Bruno forgave her and said "you are my little sister, I would give my life so that you would be well". Ana gave him a big smile.

Days passed and everything went back to normal, her parents left again because they had to complete Julieta's chemotherapy treatment so again it was just the two of them. Ana started to act very strange, she didn't leave her room anymore, she stopped going to school, sometimes she ate only once a day and when she saw Bruno's scar she would burst into tears.

Bruno didn't know what to do anymore, his sister could get sick and his parents couldn't deal with another problem. He knocked on the door of his sister's room and she said "pass", he said "you have me very worried, you don't eat anymore you don't go out anymore, you are going to get sick, you have to know that I forgot everything that happened, I forgave you and now I love you much more than before. I remember when you were a baby and I had you in my arms and I whispered in your ear that I would protect you, although I was not keeping my promise, I always remembered that I had to protect you even from yourself". Ana was surprised and tears flowed from her face.

En ese momento Ana levanto su rostro y observo fijamente a su hermano, quien continuo diciendo: ─pero ahora eres tú, la que tienes que perdonarte a ti misma, te estás juzgando severamente y te haces daño─. Esas sabías palabras de Bruno hicieron reflexionar a Ana, ella no se había perdonado por lo que hizo y por eso se estaba hundiendo poco a poco en su culpa, sin hacer nada por salir.

Ana comenzó a mejorar, ella entendió que los errores que se cometen no la definen como persona, sino los actos que hace para remediar lo que provocó. Siguió estudiando y fue la mejor de su clase y Bruno llegó a ser su mejor amigo. Julieta por su parte logró vencer el cáncer y ahora le da la misma cantidad de amor tanto a Bruno como a Ana, su familia es feliz porque cada uno de ellos aprendió lo grande del significado de la palabra "Perdón" y Bruno fue quien les enseñó ese significado.

At that moment Ana raised her face and stared at her brother, who continued saying: "but now it is you, the one who has to forgive yourself, you are judging yourself severely and hurting yourself". Those wise words of Bruno made Ana reflect, she had not forgiven herself for what she did and that's why she was sinking little by little in her guilt, without doing anything to get out.

Ana began to improve, she understood that the mistakes made do not define her as a person, but the acts she does to remedy what she provoked. She continued studying and was the best in her class and Bruno became her best friend. Julieta on the other hand managed to beat cancer and now gives the same amount of love to both Bruno and Ana, her family is happy because each of them learned the great meaning of the word "Forgiveness" and Bruno was the one who taught them that meaning.
