Cuentan que en un país lejano, vivía una niña de nombre Jade, le tocó una vida muy difícil, sus padres murieron en un crucero al enfermarse de un virus mortal, su abuela que la quería mucho, falleció de un infarto al enterarse de esta triste noticia, para completar los eventos desafortunados, era la temporada de invierno en ese país y un huracán acabó con lo único que le quedaba en la vida, su casa.

It is told that in a distant country, there lived a girl named Jade, she had a very difficult life, her parents died on a cruise ship when they fell ill with a deadly virus, her grandmother who loved her very much, died of a heart attack when she heard this sad news, to complete the unfortunate events, it was the winter season in that country and a hurricane killed the only thing she had left in her life, her house.

Estos eventos ocurrieron casi todos al mismo tiempo. Jade a sus 7 años tuvo que experimentar grandes perdidas, con las manos vacías después de haber tenido todo, llegó sin nada a un orfanato de la ciudad. Tristemente los niños de ese lugar, cuando llegaba alguien nuevo se esforzaban por hacerle la vida imposible, a Jade le escondieron su ropa, le mojaron la cama y un día le pegaron una goma de mascar en el cabello mientras dormía, como consecuencia de esto le tuvieron que cortar todo el cabello.

These events occurred almost all at the same time. Jade at the age of 7 had to experience great loss, empty handed after having had everything, she arrived with nothing at an orphanage in the city. Sadly the children there, when someone new arrived they tried hard to make her life miserable, they hid Jade's clothes, wet her bed and one day they stuck a chewing gum in her hair while she was sleeping, as a consequence they had to cut off all her hair.

Ella se sentía mal porque su mamá siempre le cepillaba el cabello y le decía ─tienes el cabello más bonito que pueda existir...─, ahora ya no tenía cabello, y la risa de los otros niños le recordaba muy a menudo que ya no le quedaba nada.

Jade había pasado por muchas cosas malas a su corta edad, pero un día recordó las palabras de su mamá cuando está le cepillaba su cabello ─...tu sonrisa ilumina nuestras vidas y tu papá y yo siempre estaremos orgullosos de ti, estés dónde estés─, así que decidió no dejar que estas desgracias le marcarán su vida, quería enfrentar la vida con la mejor actitud. Así, lo hubiese querido su familia, que ella fuera feliz.

She felt bad because her mom always brushed her hair and told her "you have the most beautiful hair ever..." now she had no hair left, and the laughter of the other children reminded her very often that she had none left.

Jade had gone through many bad things at her young age, but one day she remembered her mother's words when she was brushing her hair "...your smile lights up our lives and your dad and I will always be proud of you, wherever you are" so she decided not to let these misfortunes mark her life, she wanted to face life with the best attitude. This is how her family would have wanted her to be happy.

Durante los siguientes tres años, todos los días Jade se levantaba cantando, a todo el que se encontraba mientras caminaba le decía ─feliz día─ y luego le regalaba su hermosa sonrisa. Jade siguió creciendo y su humildad y cariño la hacían resaltar de los demás niños, tanto así que una mañana de primavera conoció a una pareja que no había podido tener hijos, ellos querían adoptar un bebé pero estaban perdidos en el orfanato y le pidieron ayuda a ella, con su gran sonrisa y todo el cariño del mundo los guío, mientras les hablaba de los planes que tenía en su vida.

Cuando la encargada del orfanato iba a mostrarle las fotos de los bebés, la pareja les dijo ─ya hemos elegido, no estaba en nuestros planes pero una niña encantadora nos robó el corazón con su ternura y su actitud positiva─. La encargada estaba sorprendida, ya Jade tenía 10 años y por lo general las personas no adoptan niños de esa edad.

For the next three years, every day Jade would wake up singing, to everyone she met while walking she would say "happy day" and then give them her beautiful smile. Jade continued to grow and her humility and affection made her stand out from the other children, so much so that one spring morning she met a couple who had not been able to have children, they wanted to adopt a baby but they were lost in the orphanage and asked her for help, with her big smile and all the love in the world she guided them while she talked to them about the plans she had in her life.

When the orphanage caretaker was going to show them the baby pictures, the couple told them "we have already chosen, it was not in our plans but a lovely little girl stole our hearts with her tenderness and positive attitude". The caretaker was surprised, Jade was already 10 years old and usually people don't adopt children of that age.

Jade fué adoptada por esa pareja, compuesta por Terry y Alejandra, cuando llegaron a la casa, era enorme, mucho más grande que la que había perdido, tenía su habitación, juguetes y desde ese día mucho amor de sus nuevos padres. Cada día los sorprendía más con sus acciones, no dejaba que nada, ni nadie se interpusiera en su felicidad, ni en sus metas.

Un día Alejandra le dice a Terry ─Jade me ha enseñado mucho, nunca se rinde pase lo que pase, su actitud hacia la vida me inspira a no dejar de intentar cumplir mis sueños─. Terry se alegró mucho de que Jade le devolviera la felicidad a sus vidas, sobretodo la de Alejandra que había estado deprimida desde hace más de un año, cuando le dijeron que no podían tener hijos.

Pasaron seis meses y Jade ya se había adaptado muy bien a su nueva vida, su sueño era hacer un lugar cómodo y acogedor para los niños que perdieran a sus padres, donde pudieran recuperarse, donde hubiera un gran parque, terapeutas y las mejores comodidades, para que ese dolor tan grande que sienten, como el que ella vivió, lo pudieran sobrellevar en un ambiente más tranquilo. Ella siempre le decía a Alejandra que ese era su sueño.

Jade was adopted by that couple, composed by Terry and Alejandra, when they arrived at the house, it was huge, much bigger than the one she had lost, she had her room, toys and from that day on, lots of love from her new parents. Every day she surprised them more and more with her actions, she did not let anything or anyone get in the way of her happiness or her goals.

One day Alejandra tells Terry "Jade has taught me a lot, she never gives up no matter what, her attitude towards life inspires me to never stop trying to fulfill my dreams". Terry was very happy that Jade brought happiness back into their lives, especially Alejandra's who had been depressed since more than a year ago, when she was told they could not have children.

Six months passed and Jade had already adapted very well to her new life, her dream was to make a comfortable and cozy place for the children who lost their parents, where they could recover, where there would be a big park, therapists and the best amenities, so that the pain they feel, like the one she lived through, could be overcome in a more peaceful environment. She always told Alejandra that this was her dream.

Como Alejandra la quería mucho se esforzó por verlo cumplido. Una tarde le dijo a Terry ─mañana es el gran día, después de varios meses de haber comprado el edificio, al fin ya está remodelado y adaptado para inaugurarlo, se ha hecho tal y como Jade lo soñó, su sorpresa le va a encantar─. Terry muy sonriente le dice ─¿Qué nombre le colocaste?─ Alejandra responde ─"Esperanza", tal como ha querido siempre Jade─, a lo que Terry la abraza fuertemente y le da un beso.

As Alejandra loved her very much, she made an effort to see it fulfilled. One afternoon she told Terry "tomorrow is the big day, after several months of having bought the building, it is finally remodeled and adapted to inaugurate it, it has been made just as Jade dreamed it, she will love it she was surprised". Terry smilingly tells her "What name did you give it?" Alejandra answers ""Hope", just as Jade has always wanted", to which Terry hugs her tightly and gives her a kiss.

La mañana siguiente Jade no tiene clases, es fin de semana y sus padres le dicen que van a salir, que le tienen una gran sorpresa. Como toda niña se emociona y corre a su habitación a cambiarse. Casi cuando van llegando Alejandra le pide a Jade ─cierra tus ojos hasta que yo te indique─ y así hace Jade.

Se detiene el automóvil y todos se bajan, Alejandra ayuda con mucho cuidado a Jade ya que tiene los ojos cerrados, caminan un poco y Alejandra le dice ─puedes abrir tus ojos─. La cara de sorpresa que tenía la pequeña no era normal, lloró de felicidad, dijo ─recuerdo mi vida en el orfanato y deseo con todo mi corazón que los niños que vivan aquí, la pasen mejor que yo, quiero que en este lugar tan hermoso que han creado, curen la herida del corazón de los niños que ya no tienen a sus padres para que los cuiden. Yo tengo el privilegio de haber encontrado unos padres maravillosos, Dios me los mandó para alegrar mis días─ y se da la vuelta y los abraza.

The next morning Jade has no classes, it's the weekend and her parents tell her they are going out, they have a big surprise for her. Like every little girl she gets excited and runs to her room to change. Almost when they arrive Alejandra asks Jade "close your eyes until I tell you" and so does Jade.

The car stops and everyone gets out, Alejandra carefully helps Jade because her eyes are closed, they walk a little and Alejandra tells her "can you open your eyes". The surprised face that the little girl had was not normal, she cried with happiness, she said "I remember my life in the orphanage and I wish with all my heart that the children who live here, have a better time than me, I want that in this beautiful place that they have created, they heal the wound in the heart of the children who no longer have their parents to take care of them. I have the privilege of having found wonderful parents, God sent them to me to brighten my days" and he turns around and hugs them.

Alejandra con lagrimas en los ojos y la voz quebrada logra decirle ─asi es mi niña, Dios te envió a nuestras vidas, cuando mi esperanza se había apagado y ya no tenía ganas de vivir, somos nosotros quienes tienen el privilegio que seas nuestra hija, tu sonrisa ilumina nuestras vidas─ a lo que Terry asiente con la cabeza.

─Recuerdo que Terry ese día en el orfanato me llevo casi obligada, pero al conocerte, ver tu entusiasmo, cariño y esa manera de actuar positiva a pesar de todo lo que te toco vivir, nos dejaste sin palabras, no solo me robaste el corazón, me devolviste lo que hoy este centro le dara a todos eses niños y que tanto necesitan, "Esperanza"─, Terry continua ─así es preciosa, fue Alejandra quien sin pensarlo dos veces, me pidio que ya no buscaramos más, ya nuestro tesoro estaba frente a nosotros, te amamos ¡Gracias por aceptarnos! nunca ocuparemos el lugar de tus padres, pero el espacio que has hecho para nosotros en tu enorme corazón, nos hace muy felices─ en ese momento Jade les regalo su hermosa sonrisa una vez más.

Alejandra with tears in her eyes and a broken voice manages to tell him ─that's my little girl, God sent you into our lives, when my hope had been extinguished and I no longer had the will to live, we are the ones who have the privilege that you are our daughter, your smile illuminates our lives─ to which Terry nods his head.

"I remember that Terry that day at the orphanage took me almost forced, but to meet you, to see your enthusiasm, affection and that way of acting positive despite everything you had to live, you left us speechless, you not only stole my heart, you gave me back what today this center will give to all these children and they need so much, "Hope"", Terry continues "precious, it was Alejandra who without thinking twice, asked me not to look for more, our treasure was in front of us, we love you, thank you for accepting us! we will never take the place of your parents, but the space you have made for us in your huge heart, makes us very happy" at that moment Jade gave them her beautiful smile once again.

Caminaron por todo el edificio y era exactamente como Jade lo había soñado, ya tenían allí a los doctores, terapeutas y todo el personal que se encargaría de alegrar a esos niños, a esos que seguramente sentían que toda su vida se acabó al perder a sus padres, demostrarles que con la mejor actitud hasta el corazón más roto se puede recuperar.

They walked through the whole building and it was exactly as Jade had dreamed it, they already had the doctors, therapists and all the staff that would be in charge of cheering up those children, those who surely felt that their whole life was over when they lost their parents, to show them that with the best attitude even the most broken heart can be recovered.

Pasó el tiempo y tanto Alejandra como Jade servían juntas un día a la semana de voluntarias en su edificio para ayudar a los niños, la experiencia de Jade les demostraba que si tenían la mejor actitud podían afrontar cualquier obstáculo y aprender de esa situación.

Terry, Alejandra y Jade siguen viviendo muy felices hasta el día de hoy, pero se pusieron más felices aún, ayer se enteraron que la familia iba a crecer, ¡Alejandra está embarazada!, otra prueba más de que la mejor actitud trae buenos resultados.

Time passed and both Alejandra and Jade served together one day a week volunteering in their building to help the children, Jade's experience showed them that if they had the best attitude they could face any obstacle and learn from that situation.

Terry, Alejandra and Jade are still living very happily to this day, but they got even happier, yesterday they found out that the family was going to grow, Alejandra is pregnant!, another proof that the best attitude brings good results.
